I go to the npractionor in am and the nutricionist and phycologist on Saturday. I have plenty of gym records ,we records.does anyone in CT know how I can expedite the process to go quicker.do I have to wait the six months if I have hi blood pressure.

Only your insurance company can answer that. If they have a 6 month waiting period then I don't think there's a way around it.

I'd give them a call and find out.

HI im in connecticut too and i have huskey ins let me tell you..to be honest i started nutrition last may and just had my lapband done jan 12th 12 state ins demands you to go to nutrition class for 6 mon 1 time a month.....where are you going too... i went to yale for nutrition and yale to have it done....dr roberts is very very good......any other questions let me know....i started nutrition last may at 352 now i way 292 they really helped me!!!!

Does anyone know what Medicare requires as far as documentation? I had to change my PCP. She doesn't really know me and is reluctant to write a referal letter for me. Is there anyone can help me?

I live in Connecticut too and I'm sorry to say but there is no way to expedite this process unless you are paying for the surgery yourself. I have Husky/Medicaid too and it took me over a year to get everything together...finally had surgery on February 8th.

The reason why it takes so long is because the surgeon himself's office had to weigh me every month for the six month requirement. I was not able to use anything from my primary ..and in fact really didn't need much from my primary for the surgery...just the pre-op physical I believe...I had to go through many many tests as you will find out..which took months to finish.

I go to Dr. Tousignant in Norwich, CT and had my surgery at Backus hospital...I love my surgeon so much, he is really great..super nice and extremely smart..my surgery went perfectly too. But like I said, there is no way to make this go faster...you just need to find a surgeon as soon as you possibly can and get this going! The time that you will have right now until surgery, you should take to loose some weight before surgery, because that is what they will ask you to do. I was told i had to loose 50 pounds before surgery, ended up loosing 30 but since they saw I was making progress, that was all they needed.

Wow maybe I should self pay.

Marlene, I live in CT, I think I answered a prior post about self pay too, but let me tell you, if you have to do the 6 month pre nutrition requirements, do it, even with the high blood pressure because guess what? High blood pressure is just another co-morbidity, and if it's documented in your medical record WITH a prescription as well, Husky is going to take that into consideration. You have to look at it from their point of view--they would rather pay a provider/md/anesthesia a total of $2000 for the procedure than to pay a provider/md/etc a lifetime of claims due to co morbidities (high blood pressure, diabetes, heart problems) that can cost an insurance company thousands of dollars to a provider and doctor.

Also during that 6 month period, write down ANYTHING abnormal and bring it to your doc for your medical records. Migraines, dizziness, irregular/heavy periods the more "issues" you have, the faster the approval is going to be from Husky.

I heard that they deny alot too.and u have to keep replying and appealing.I am seriously thinking about self pay. And to really work and to just get denied is not right..

Call Husky and see what their requirements would be for this procedure (ie certain BMI certain number of co-morbidities) then question what % of cases get denied.

From what I see 80% of bariatric surgery patients are on Husky. IDK how long it took them to get an approval but it seems like for where I work they let them all in lol.

My first weigh in is in April so 6 months would not be until October or November. I am really just thinking of self pay. I got a price of 13000 includes fills and everything! I know its alot but I have added up my weight receipts from trying all these programs and it was about 6000. And I think if I wait again..I will talk myself out of it again..

I am just trying to weigh my options. My health is important to me.
