I went to my Tricare PCP to get a referral for the lap-band today. I was really scared. My last interactions with on-post doctors was a soldier and when you're a soldier the doctors tend to not want to admit there is anything wrong with you and give you the minimal care with a bad attitude. I'd heard it was better for spouses, but the nervousness was still there.
It went great.
The doctor was very nice and seemed like she wanted to be there doing that job, she gave me no problem about wanting a referral, etc. She just had me go get blood and urine tests done and had me make a follow-up Monday to go over them and give me the referral if all was good!
So Monday is the next hurdle.
But so far Tricare Prime care is going well. I'm so much less scared and stressed. I know I'm not out of the woods yet, but the treatment I got today makes me feel much more confident that this will happen.
