Tricare standard - psych eval

I have 1st appointment with the surgeon on 6/16/10 as well as the nutritionist, however, the psychologist they work with cannot see me until 7/7/10. I have Tricare Standard (North) and I'm wondering if the psych eval is required for approval. I'm hoping this won't delay my surgery! :frown:

Most doctors require that you see a psychiatrist just to make sure you don't have any underlying problems (such as severe depression). I don't think Tricare requires the visit but your doctor will and if you don't have one, you won't be able to have your surgery.

That's great to know. My appt with the surgeon is next week and the psych eval 3 weeks after that. I just didn't think it was fair to have to wait for the eval for my insurance process to begin.

Thanks.
