How does heat effect the band?

I am getting banded next week. My job requires me to work outside most of the time and it's going to be hot soon. I was wondering how the heat effects the band? And if so does anybody have any advice on how to deal with it? I always have plenty of water with me but I have heard it is hard to drink a lot of water at one time.
