  1. I am 2 months post-op...and I'm down 44lbs. I am very excited...and I am not expecting to get any adjustment tomorrow at my doctor's appt. My question is when I don't sit up straight I get a "twinge of uncomfortability/pain" in the port area. Does anyone else get that feeling? Also, sometimes during intercourse...which is weird cuz it is up just under my ribs...but I sometimes feel uncomfortable. Does anyone think it is just still in the healing process? Or if someone does get this...is it on-going? I am planning to ask surgeon tomorrow...but was curious if anyone else gets that.

    personal questions

thanks everyone! I did ask, and she said it was normal...foreign part in the body and all and my body should get used to it. I will keep your response in mind AlienBandit - just in case it doesn't go away...but it isn't constant...just when I slouch of bend my body in any way...
  3. Hi everyone! My name is Louise. I am a little more than one month post op...and I've lost 38lbs so far. I have about 70 more to go. I have a great support system in place with my husband, kids and my boss...but can never have enough support...especially considering none of them have had this. I am looking forward to talking with people who have been banded...and helping to encourage others that are thinking about it.

    1 month post op

Dave, Honestly...the first few days after the surgery, I had a problem getting all of the shakes in...because I wasn't hungry. I did get hungry towards the end of the first two weeks of shakes...so I did start stage 3 a day early. However, once I started the stage 3...I was surprisingly full after meals...even as abbreviated as they were. Even though there is no "fluid" in the band, I think there is still some restriction...due to swelling etc...but I was able to eat anything (within the stage 3 diets) with no problem. Stage 4 was even better...I like my breads, so I experimented with some...I found a 100 calorie "thin sandwich" bread by Arnold that is very good...and I was able to eat sandwiches for lunch...oatmeal for Breakfast instead of eggs all the time...and I have not had a problem. Now, I have had my first fill (4cc in a 10cc band)...and I have had some problems with doughier foods...muffins, rolls etc...but those thin sandwich breads are calming that craving...and I am still losing weight! Go for the surgery. You will be very surprised with how you feel afterwards...and rewards are great. I can see my toes without bending over! LOL
  5. I am about 7 weeks post op and just had my first fill a week ago. Prior to fill (4cc), I was doing great...but felt like I could eat anything/everything. Now with the fill, I am starting to see "signs" of being full...mainly, I get a bit queasy. If I sit back and wait a few minutes, I usually burp and feel better. However, yesterday, I never got that feeling and went straight to feeling like I needed to be sick. I tried to force the burp, but felt like I was making it worse. I was finally able to burp and felt 100% better...but I am petrified of throwing up and slipping the band. How would I know if I slipped the band?

    Getting sick

thanks guys! Yeah, I do eat pretty slowly now...but I could also probably take even smaller bites. I do believe she said she sewed into place...but I still got nervous. I can handle the burping...it's the other that is scary... again...THANKS!

the first fill helps a little bit. I am hoping the second one will help the most. My first adjustment was 4cc in a 10cc band. I do find a few things more difficult...like a muffin or bread...that I had no problem with prior to the adjustment... but I do feel fuller.

    Just had my surgery

Randy, Try crawling onto all 4's to get in and out of bed. sleeping, I found sleeping on my back or my left side was okay...but yeah, sleeping on my left was out of the question for about 3 weeks. I can now sleep that way. IT GETS BETTER!!! Sorry, I forget the person's name that said she was nervous about banding...all I can say is GO FOR IT! It was the best decision I've ever made. I'm down 38lbs (about 70 more to go) and I'm 7 weeks post op. Thanks for the thread, and I look forward to your blog as well. I am hoping to meet people who have had banding, so I can just bounce ideas/recipes and ask questions etc. I too have a great support system...but they've not done this...so as helpful as they are...they don't completely understand. My husband has also been looking for recipes and healthier stuff to eat, etc.
