How are you doing now that you have been banded for a while? Not sure I like the new format of this site. It was much easier before. I go for my first fill on 12/8. Let me know how you are doing.

Hi Lisa, I am doing great. Finally feel like myself again. The surgery went very well, no problems at all. The toughest part was having it right before Thanksgiving and my husband not wanting his family to know as he doesn't think they will be supportive. So I had to play the sick card but got through it. I start mushies tomorrow and can't wait. I feel like I have been on liquids forever.

Hi Lisa, Sorry to hear about the Shingles that sounds painful. FYI, I have a good friend of mine who had the band 2 years ago by a different doctor. She lost about 1 pound a week on the average but consistently lost. She lost 50 pounds the first year and 50 the second. Her Dr. told her that it was normal and it is a slow process, but she has lost 102 pounds and is at goal now. I'm not expecting miracles. I know that it is just a tool and it takes a lot of work but I am hoping that this is the tool that I have always needed. I'll be in touch next week or so.

Hi Lisa, I haven't been on this site in a while. Not sure I was even going to be able to have the surgery at first, but I have now been cleared. I saw a specialist and he ran a bunch of tests that took FOREVER to get back, over two weeks. Everything came back normal. I was cleared today. Called Dr. Q's office and they scheduled me for 11/18. I start liquid again tomorrow don't have to do the full 2 weeks. I'm nervous but excited. Please tell me how you are doing and have you lost any weight. Are you happy with this decision so far. Are you eating solid food now? I am very interested in seeing how you are doing and your progress and story. -Jackie

Hi Lisa, I got bad news yesterday and my surgery has to be postponed. My pre-op blood work came back with an abnormality for blood clotting and i have to have further testing done before I can have the surgery. I did 12 days of the liquid diet and they took me off of it yesterday. I am devastated and heartbroken at this point but my health is most important. Need to see a blood specialist and hopefully this will all get fixed within a couple of weeks. I'm like the healthy fat person so this is a big blow to me. I don't want to gain back any of the weight I have already lost so I need to be really careful. Dr. Q's office was really nice and they felt so bad for me yesterday. They said when it all works out that maybe I will only do a week of the liquid and that they will reschedule it as soon as they can. My insurance is changing 11/30 so this is pretty scary for me. Pretty bummed out. Hope you are doing well. - Jackie

Hi Lisa, Just checking in and seeing how you are doing. Had my pre-op yesterday. Boy was that a quick visit, but I really liked the nurse practitioner. She answered a lot of questions for me. My last step is seeing my own doc on Friday and going to the nutrition class on Tuesday. Did you have to do a bowel prep and what did that entail if you don't mind me asking. Are you getting out and about yet or still hanging around home. Hope you are doing well.

Hi Lisa, How do you get your pic to show up when you send messages? mine just displays a question mark and I can't figure out how to do it. Liquid has been hard but I know in a few more days it will be easier. Change is always challenging. Glad to hear you are doing ok. It sounds more painful than I anticipated. Have a great weekend. Hi Lisa, how are you doing now that you are one week post-op? Are you getting around ok? 2 weeks until my surgery. I'm worried about how long I will be down for, and how I am going to care for the kids come Monday after surgery when my husband goes back to work. Hopefully, I will be up and moving around by then. I started today, two days before they asked me to just because I am really ready to begin this. Not sure how to use this website so bear with me - I'm just learning. I see Dr. Q on Monday for my pre-op. Can't believe it's really happening.

Thanks for getting back to me so soon. I would love keep in contact and help each other out. Some of the messages from this website are helpful but some a bit scary, hearing the stories and what people are experiencing post-operatively. It seems as though our doc does things a little differently so I am hoping that makes the difference. It doesn't seem like you had too much trouble following the surgery and I'm glad to hear that. I started my liquid diet today which has been a little difficult. Good luck and let's stay in touch.
