After 5 months of tests, my surgery was approved after 4 additional months. I've struggled with weight my whole life and this was my last resort. I was 409lbs. in June and on the date of my surgery (9/1) I was 388lbs. It was a long struggle with Aetna, although it seems that my 'long' struggle wasn't nearly as bad as some others have experienced.
