About Me

I started preparation for gastric banding surgery in 2010 when I lost my job. As a result I also lost my insurance coverage so bariatric surgery was put on the back burner. I now am married and wanting to start a family, and due to multiple health concerns I don't want to do that before I am in the  healthiest state possible. The tipping point for me was trying on bridesmaid dresses for my friend's wedding. There wasn't a dress large enough to fit me to try on and the employee at the shop had a hard time getting me part way in one. I was so humiliated at the experience and so ashamed I decided enough was enough! I have terrible back pain which limits my ability to even walk my dog, my mother recently had a heart attack and my weight has reached a new high.

I am extremely nervous and am afraid I will have regrets but I am more afraid of my life if I continue to slowly gain. I am in the middle of completing my pre-operative requirements and am aiming for surgery in September.
