    Unflavored protein powder?

Hi! I'm only day 5 post op but have a question... When you make your protein drink it's at least 8 oz right? Is this a meal replacement for you or a snack in addition to your meals? Confused on how someone said they can take a Greek yogurt and glass of Oj with genpro in morning.. Wouldn't that be too much for stomach?? Thanks for your insight Sent from my XT1585 using the BariatricPal App Hi! I put one scoop of Genepro (30 gram protein equiv) in about a quarter cup of OJ. So overall very little volume. I take it almost like a shot glass of alcohol. At first I had to take smaller sips. I also have a standard serving of Greek yogourt and my Multivitamins in the morning with it. Hope that clarifies! Unflavored protein powder?

I guess Protein is a very personal taste. I haven't found one that truly has no taste and doesn't change the consistency of what you mix it with. I personally find the very good volume to protein ratio of GENEPRO (one tbl spoon for 30 gram) is what makes a difference. In OJ the strong taste and consistency make it really easy to take every morning. Combined with a Greek yogourt you can start your day with 40 grams of protein without any fuss... Unflavored protein powder?

The four cals per gram is the issue. It's a misconception. If you take a look at Genepro's website they have a video explaining their process. It's actually quite clear and scientifically proven. Their process is very advanced and fascinating. And for the record I don't work there or know them or anything lol. I'm from Canada and it's expensive to buy here, but it's worth it IMHO. It's time! :)

Well ten days into my liquid diet and 17lbs down its time! Tomorrow morning at 10:30 I'll finally have restriction again! Can't wait! To all those being sleeved or banded soon I wish you all the best. To those on the pre-op diet stay strong! To those who were banded, succeeded, eroded, are are being sleeved (like me) good luck! Unflavored protein powder?

Agree on the GENEPRO. It's great. Very small amount of OJ and it's easy to handle. Mix with a fork and it's virtually imperceptible. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  8. Impossible question to answer because it's so variable. It also fluctuates over time for many people. For what it's worth, I had 3ccs in mine and lost 130lbs without ever adjusting it after it was inserted. I had restriction right away and it never left. Good luck getting your situation sorted. First day of pre-op diet

Agree with Jamie. Your pre-op is considered mild compared to some. Gut it through the first few days. Beyond that it's much easier. Stay busy. In the end it's a few weeks for the rest of your life. Stay focused and don't get down or start to believe your stomach lol. My stomach is a cruel liar. Good luck! 10. Yup the first few days suck. But the Water is critical. You absolutely have to get it down. It's not about "wanting" it. Measure it out at the start of the day and small sips throughout the day. As for Protein I take 4 ounces of water with a good whey ISO for 20 grams. I do it four time a day. I do my PPI and my Multivitamin in the AM. That's my recommendation for the first week. Obviously follow your doctor's plan, but you gotta get the water and protein down my friend. You'll have the rest of your life to eat what you want in moderation. For now you have to have a laser focus on simple fundamental nutrition. Keep moving and busy. That will help too. Good luck! Concern about surgery

Try to plan to walk as soon as possible and as much as you can after you leave recovery. I've been through it twice and that made a huge difference. I also try to take as little of the pain meds as possible. They constipate and generally make things tougher. Obviously take them until you don't need them anymore, but as soon as you can get off them do so. Just my $0.02. Good luck!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Concern about surgery

There will be pain management. If you have severe pain you don't get sent home. You won't be sent home unless you can get some fluids down and pass urine either (in my experience). Don't stress about it now. Take it one step at a time and you'll do fine! AS Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Palpating the Port, is it Flat or Curved?

Initially I couldn't feel mine unless I pressed hard. About -50 I could feel it pretty easily. At -130 I swore I could see it in the mirror looking back at me (mine was oval and felt like an eyeball lol). My wife said I was nuts and you couldn't see a thing. If you're going to reach six pack abs territory it'll definitely stick out! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Time off

I have a "desk job" and I could easily go back after a week. It's not about pain but more managing the diet and hydration that's important for the first few weeks out. If I had a more physically demanding job I'd certainly take longer... For my band I took four days and for my sleeve I'm taking a week and a half. Good luck! It's time! :)

Both my pre op diets were virtually the same. Ten days Clear liquids only and three boost diabetic shakes and a cup of vegetables. Pretty simple. The first time I found it difficult but I thought it was a joke after I lost 130 lbs. The second time (for sleeve) the pre-op was no big deal because I'm laser focused on the results. I know it feels hard, but in reality you'll be so happy in the end. Just stay focused, stay busy and go one day at a time. Good luck! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

So far the biggest difference from band to sleeve is the trouble getting Water down... Tough to get 64 ounces in... Hopefully today will be better. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    It's time! :)

Thank you all for the kind words of encouragement. I'm through surgery and recovery. In my room now and the pain's tolerable. Now to walk walk walk like I did with my band and get rid of this gas lol. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  23. I don't think you can really take the comments you hear as proportionate... I had mine with zero issues. Lost 130lbs and beat goal no problem. Lived with it without any fills at all and no issues for two years. Then it eroded for no apparent reason. You can't really predict it. All you can do is follow the guidelines you receive and do the best you can to work the system. Beyond that what will happen will happen. I loved my band and was very successful. I hope you will be too! Best of luck!!! AS Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

What will my new size be?

I would wait. Also, for me shopping in stores I could never go and finding deals I could never find because they don't discount huge clothes very much was a great reward as I lost weight. I became a HUGE motivator for me... I did it all the way down 130lbs and like others said you will bet likely also skip sizes. Wait, it'll be with it! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Big day tomorrow

My first recommendation is try to get moving as soon as you can. After my first procedure it really made a huge difference for me. Many say it accelerates the healing process. I'm being sleeved Thursday of this week so I'm right behind you! Good luck!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
