First fill shock!
I have only had one fill and never had any sort of scope or barium. My doctor used a needle for a local anesthetic (ask for it) and honest to Pete, the 2nd needle (for the actual fill) was in, and I only knew it when I felt the pressure of the needle wobbled a bit when the doctor turned to get a wipe as I had a drop on blood to dap. I literally had NO pain with that anesthetic. He even tapped the port with the needle and asked if I could hear the port. Very neat! After removing the needle after my fill, I sat up and drank some water. Since the water caught in my throat a bit, we started all over so the doctor could remove a bit of saline (I was a bit too full) and still no pain. If you are nervous and want a local...ask! You are paying him! Good luck!!!

Afraid to move to reg. foods due to gain???
Thanks everyone! I knew ahead of time that this would be a life changing, forever process, but of course, once you are actually in it, you realize all that that means. There are so many dietary questions I didn't know to ask, and all I have are a few copied sheets from my dietician, so I feel pretty lost in decisions. I looked at a few cookbooks for people after bariatric surgery, but the recipes aren't for everyday use...expensive ingredients, 4 portions from a single recipe...things like that. But I'll get it! Anxiety be damned! Thanks again!!!

Afraid to move to reg. foods due to gain???
I have been banded a month. I have tolerated most everything I eat, but I find myself SO afraid to start eating things other peaches/cottage cheese, cream of wheats, simmered chicken breast, cheese sticks, etc. I actually ate pretty well before surgery and gained the majority of my weight and kept it on due to depression meds. So now, when I think about eating, I get anxious. Anyone else?

1st fill 2days ago-still hungry-eating same volume
This is my first fill. I lost almost a pound a day after surgery but have been stagnant for the past 2 weeks, so I guess I am just antsy! Still following dietary rules and bumped up exercise to 2 miles a day walking. Being a newbie makes for a lot research. Any suggestions for someone 1 month out? Thanks so much for the help everyone!!! Good luck!!!

1st fill 2days ago-still hungry-eating same volume
I had my first fill 2 days ago, and while I certainly have to pay more attention to eating smaller bites to keep from getting "clogged", I can still eat the same volume of food as before the fill. And I am still quite hungry. Anyone else have this experience?

Sicly sweet taste for hours from protein shakes???
I am having a hard time before and now after surgery in the pursuit of a Protein suppliment that doesn't create a sicky sweet taste in my mouth for hours after drinking it. Until I can eat meat, I fear I am going to have trouble meeting my protein requirements but the sweet taste makes me gag... and with 5 healing incisions, I have no desire to gag. Anyone else experience this and have a suggestion for a drink that does not?

How much sugar is app. for each day?
Thanks for your responses. I am trying to learn all of these nutritional things, having been banded 4 days ago. I guess I was asking about added sugars. Right now, sugar is easy to avoid because I am on a soft diet (sugar-free Jello, popcicles, fruit juices, etc.) but once I start incorporating regular foods, sugars are hidden everywhere. I'll be sure to ask my doctor. Thanks again!

Where can you get Hormel? Healthy Shot? High Protein Beverage?
I was given this in the hospital. I have found it on the net, but it is kinda pricey. They don't taste too bad and have 24gm of protein. I'd love to have some until I can eat a little more on my own.

Had LapBand 8/24
So far everything is going quite well. I am experiencing discomfort but no real pain. The continuous pressure under my sternum, shoulders, and shoulder blades is the worst and make it difficult to eat. I am concerned about getting enough Protein since I eat so little. But I'll figure it out. Good luck!
