  1. I had my lapband removed in an emergency surgery on July 12. (laparoscopically) the removal wasn't bad however I am not comfortable lifting anything over 20 lbs or so. I am able to work (desk job) and do most everything. I plan to get back in the gym this week slowly. Best of luck.
  2. Just curious if anyone had their approval from Aetna recently. How long did you have to wait to hear? My paperwork was submitted this morning. I called and they did receive everything so now I am just waiting. The insurance specialist at my surgeron mentioned they were being slower than usual...
  3. Banded 12/14 and currently at about 230. I am going to Zumba and some cardio. I took a weight class today and my whole body hurts. just curious what others who have seen results did at the beginning for exercise? How long before you could really see a difference?

What do you do to exercise?

@nicole74 I did body pump today. I so was not ready for that but I will continue to try it.
  5. There is a YouTube vlogger who has lupus. Her name is anume1109 if you want to check out her videos
  6. My favorite is eas carb advantage strawberry. I buy the four premixed at Publix for $5 (1.25 per meal) they sell these everywhere (even walgreens). I have my first fill this week and will have to do liquids after and plan to use this again.
  7. I can understand. I was banded 12-14 and lost preop and 1 week post op. Nothing week 2 and week 3 I'm the same despite low calorie intake and exercise. I have two thoughts, quite possibly we are gaining muscle from exercising. And if you have no restriction, the tool is there but not yet ready for use. Meaning you have a band but until you get a fill it's not really doing much after your swelling went down from surgery. Hang in there. I am confident it will happen.

    Shoulder pain after eating

Look up referred pain. I was banded 12-14 and just went fr my 2 week post op appt. Surgeon said it is likely tubing from band touching diaphragm. Your body signals pain through left shoulder. It should ease over time.
  9. I joined!! Thanks for setting this up looks like a great motivational tool.

    pain and uncomfortable

I am relieved that we are all in the same boat. I too was banded yesterday. The gas pains for me are all on the left side. I've been snoozing off and on today and walking in between. The walking does help. Also drinking fluids and Gas-X strips have helped. As soon as I woke from surgery the port incision was the first thing I felt. I took the dressing off today and left the steristrips on. Believe it or not it feels better without my belly taped down. Hang in there gang, I know we will all be doing cartwheels in no time.
  12. Today I had my preop upper GI. I kept myself from Gagging on the barium but just barely. I normally get nauseated after any surgery. How will I keep this down so they can see if the band is correct, etc? Ive had a queasy feeling all day since then. Maybe I'm just over thinking it
  13. You guys were right. It was small sips and I did just fine!

    Anyone being banded tomorrow?

I'm banded! Home and sore but doing very well. So much easier than the 2 c-sections and 1 kidney stone surgeries I've had before. No sickness post op either. Thanks for all the concern and prayers from everyone

    Anyone being banded tomorrow?

I'm being banded at 10:30 this morning. At the hospital getting ready now. I'm sorta nervous.
  16. My dr gives your prescription at the last appt. before banding. However, my prescription was written for pills vs. liquid. When I went to pick up the prescription this afternoon (my surgery is tomorrow morning) I noticed the Percocet looked HUGE! I ended up asking the pharmacist to keep the med's and call my Dr's office in the morning to make sure I should be taking pills immediately post op for pain vs. liquid. Anyone have any experience with this? DId you have pills or liquids prescribed?

Congrats Sabrina! My big band is tomorrow 12-14. I'm hoping for a good nights sleep beforehand.
  18. Good info. I love this support. My surgery is Tuesday!

    FINALLY

YAY! I love this thread. Not only because you got approved (and I did too today!) But because my favorite you tuber is posting here (Katy) She has an awesome series of videos of her journey that you should really watch Swan. I am working up the nerve to do Youtube as I know it takes a lot to put all your business out in the public. I think it will help keep me motivated.

    Anyone recently approved by Aetna?

Well I have a reference number now but nothing else. Last week my dr indicated I could possibly have surgery 12-14 if approved in time. They had me start on pre-op diet and now I'm just hoping it all works out since 12-14 is next week
  21. jenleigh526

    Did I get approved?

So are you in?? I hope it all worked out. I'm still waiting.

    Anyone recently approved by Aetna?

Bummer. I have read 2 days, 4 days, and several weeks. I hate the waiting the most. I did everything they required. I called them today still nothing. Anyone know if they process preauthorizations over the weekend?
  23. I've tried the Jay Robb protein shakes. You can mix with water, milk, almond milk, yogurt, etc. You can buy it at Kroger or online. I've also tried the Lean line of products at GNC. They are good too.

    Anyone from tennessee

I am in Tennessee too. I live in Murfreesboro but see Dr. Spaw at Baptist (same group as Dr. Morton I believe) I am going through my 90 day diet plan with their office (Aetna requirement). I am hoping to have my surgery in December. Where do you go for your support groups? I know there is one that meets at Stonecrest on like the 4th Saturday of the month but I missed it this month..I would like to find a regular one.
  25. Hi there. I have Aetna insurance and decided to do the 3 month program through my surgeon's office. My last appt. will be December 1. I am really trying to get my surgery before the end of the year. I have been for my psych eval, surgeon visit, dietician, exercise coach, etc. but they didn't mention any pre-op testing like blood tests or upper GI, etc. Does this happen after I am finished with the 3 month program? Is it a realistic expectation to try and have this completed by the end of the year? I have emailed my coordinator at the surgeon's office to put the bug in her ear. I don't want to get to the end of the 3 month program without knowing that I had another step (if there is one) Thanks for all the help !
