    January Bandsters???

I was stuck at 170 lbs for almost two months. About 3 weeks ago I started walking and started paying attention to portions. I went to the doctor yesterday and I had lost 5 lbs. O to be 170 again, that was years ago!!!!! Maybe someday this year! I work 12 hour night shifts, been working too many of them here lately. It's another old habit of eating sometimes just to stay awake, not because you're hungry. I usually always use small salad plates at home. BUT tonight I really pigged out! Whoops got a patient coming in, gotta go.<!-- google_ad_section_end --><!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

    January Bandsters???

Absolutely!!!! I have always been one of those kind of people that like my food really hot. Now 9/10ths of everything I eat is cold. Never thought I would see that happen since the invention of the microwave!

    January Bandsters???

Hi, Thought I'd check in since I haven't done it in a long time. I seem to be going SO slow with any weight lost. Eatting way too many carbs, still eat at times when I'm not hungry, but at Christmas I weighted 275 pounds. Today I weigh 235. I've got to start exercising... still haven't done hardly any since surgery.... keep thinking how much I need to but just haven't done it. Checking in here gives me encouragement. I find myself thinking that just because I eat such smaller portions it should be okay, but I've got to start making better food choices. I'm going to start doing that starting RIGHT NOW!

    January Bandsters???

sherilynn, I too have been lurking, not having anything to contribute. I am also unable to relate, I've fallen so far behind, especially when I thought that I'd be one of the best loosers! I just knew that I'd be able to stick with the diet plan, and just eatting a little would be great. I do eat considerably less than I use to, but still eatting way way too much. At least once a day when I eat my first meal of the day I PB, but once I throw up what ever is caught then it seems I can eat alot more. I'm getting to be a real pro at it. Sad to think I've gotten so good at pucking and still not loosing anything. I've lost 18 pounds since surgery Jan. 15th, and all of that was right after surgery. I've just maintained that loss. I still can't make myself exercise, still feel fat, tired, and lazy. I have lost inches, and get excited over the fact that I am wearing smaller clothes, but by now I should be wearing alot smaller clothes than what I am. I'm proud of all the people on this site that is loosing so well. Today is another day, and I'm starting fresh today, started a food journal, I'm starting my low carb diet back today. I have a wonderful tool, I plan to use it. Low carb worked so well prior to surgery I know that it will work for me, and now that I feel I can eat just about anything it's time to put the tool to work. I think I need prayers for this head hunger.

    January Bandsters???

Hi, I haven't posted anything in a long time. Banded Jan. 15th, and only had my first fill (1.5cc) on April 12th. I've felt restriction from the get-go, but continue to eat too much. :faint: You all sound like you've done so well, and control your intake so well, makes me feel like a looser.... and I don't mean pound wise! I've lost 16 pounds since surgery. Since getting my fill Thursday, I'm eating alot less so maybe it will start coming off... and I won't wait so long for my next fill if/when it's needed. My port site is still sore. Very tender to touch. I can feel it at any given time and at times it even seems to protrude some. The scars are healing very nicely, no sings of infection at all. No one is talking about their port sites anymore.... am I the only one still so tender?:cry

Weight is 248, only 13 pounds since surgery, but instead of wearing 22-24 pants, I'm wearing 18-20. I have my first fill scheduled for the 12th of this month. I am eating anything but just not as much as I use to, but still eating way too much. Still feel hungry, still eating even when I'm not hungry.... got to get this better in control and start eating food that is better for me! Read on this site about a sweet spot, I have no idea what that is. I just know that I want it!

Cindy, I just got around to catching up on our thread here. Want to thank you for the reality check. Patsy

    January Bandsters???

LOL, I kinda did the same thing. My son was eatting some raviolis and they smells SO good, I took about 5 or 6 of them, added some beef broth and stuck them in the vita-mixer and drank them! Not quiet the same as the regular ole ravioli but I really did enjoy it!

    January Bandsters???

Hi! I'm doing great, go back to the doctor today for my first preop visit. I have used my sisters vita-mixer and just making a thick soup out of everything! A friend brought tortilla soup over yesterday and I just left the chicken in and everything and put it through the vitamixer. I've noticed I'm taking in alot more now than I did a week ago at this time. I had a whole can of tomatoe soup for Breakfast. Have to admit that I cheated 2 days ago and ate some mexican casserole (one of my favorite dishes), couldn't eat much of it and felt miserable for a short while, but I was careful with LOTS of chewing and slow swallowing and felt that every bite was worth it! :biggrin1: After reading this site and hearing all the complaints about pain and gas pain, I feel so blessed. This really has been a pleasant experience as far as surgery goes, never had the "bent over" "hard to straighten up" feeling, really no gas pains either. It just a new experience for me to learn how to eat again! I want bigger bites, I want to be able to swallow and not worry about every bite I put in my mouth. BUT I am so proud of my new tool, and fully intent to take full advantage of it.

    January Bandsters???

Hello everyone. I was excited Saturday, I tried a pair of pants on that had never fit before and I'd refused to return them, and they fit! Very comfortably. One week out today, still on liquids, eatting mostly just soups and still learning how to slow down, small sips etc. Ate hot and sour soup at the mall yesterday and couldn't get over how good it was!!!!

    4 days post op

Got to the hospital at 10:30, went early because of the ice storm we are having. Surgery was done at 1:30 just as planned. All in all I have to say that as far as surgery goes it was a pleasant experience. Stayed at the hospital over night with my pca pump with dilaudid. Pushed the button at any little twinge of pain, so it made the experience pretty painless. Went home Tuesday afternoon. Today is Friday. I have not had any of the gas problems that everyone talked about. I've had a few diarrhea stools, but no gas. My abdomen is very sore, don't want anything touching it. Glad that I took off of work for the weekend, but been in the house long enough now that I'm getting some cabin fever. I haven't hardly eatten anything now for a week. I love Lue's vitamixer, made liquids out of a can of sliced potatoes, can of mushroom soup, beef broth and velveta cheese. I ate on it yesterday and today and there is still about a cup left and that's it for the last 2 days. The most I can take in is a cup at a time and then feel kinda miserable for awhile. I have been drinking about 20 ounces of water each day and know that I have to start taking in more water. But I tried on a pair of orange pants that I had bought over a year ago and couldn't even come close to fastening. I put them on last night and they fit just right. They did lack about 4 inches coming together! Made me feel good. Being faithful about putting on skin tightening lotion, but have got to make myself start exercising. I had plans of walking today but haven't done it yet so far.

    January Bandsters???

I totally agree with you. Also banded on the 15th, and as far as surgery goes it was very pleasant. I had a private room, hardly any pain at all, sore now but all in all not a bad experience. The question about eatting in only 20 minutes.... my nutrionalist says to take at least 30-45 minutes to eat.

    January Bandsters???

Nope that isn't the position for operation. You are put on the stretcher (which was comfortable by the way after being on the hard stretcher waiting to go in) and your legs are strapped down "just to remind you that you are on a very narrow bed" and for safety reasons. They even had a soft pad placed under my heels and my feet against a soft squishy pillow thing.

    January Bandsters???

We were both banded on the 15th right? I also have some pain in my back but it isn't bad. My thighs are sore too, I know it's strange. It started all at once yesterday afternoon, if it had been from riding my bike I think it would have started sooner. So far I haven't had any of the shoulder pain that other people talk about, thank God! All and all I think I'm doing pretty good as far as pain goes. Not able to take in much in my little pouch tho. It really is a learning experience. As far the pain in the back did you get an insentive spirometor from the hospital? Use it, you need to expand your lungs and it really will help with getting the pain to go away. If you didn't just take some REALLY deep slow breaths, about 10 of them and see if it helps.

    January Bandsters???

Good afternoon to everyone. Day 2 post op. I am very sore, but up and moving. The tops of my thighs are sore, haven't read anywhere about anyone having their legs get sore...??? My vastus lateralis are diffently suffering from a build up of lactic acid! Leave it to me to have some strange pain. lol Maybe it's from the little short distance that I rode my bike when I got it Thurs. Sure didn't think I'd rode it that much tho! I filled up this morning just trying to take my pills and haven't gotten around to anything to actually eat yet. Think I'll go get me a popsicle.

    January Bandsters???

howdy! I Just Got Home From The Hospital. Everything Went Great. Everything But The Weather. My Surgery Was At 1:30, The Weather Was So Bad That The Radiologist Left Before I Got My Flouroscopy Done So I Had To Stay Overnight, Which Was Already An Option Given To Me Anyway. I Was Suppose To Have Had The Flouroscopy Then At 8 This Morning But With Our Ice Storm Employees Were Late Getting In And It Didn't Get Done Until 10:30. I'm Grateful For The Night At The Hospital Though, The Bed Was Comfortable, They Hooked Up A Pca Pump And The Slightiest Little Twinge Of Pain I Punched The Button, So I Was Vertually Pain Free Throughout The Night And All Day Today. Just Had My First Liquids And Of Course I Ate Too Much Now I Feel Like My Chest Is Thightening. I'm Fixing To Take Some Of My Pain Med And Go To Bed. I Have To Say That So Far This Has Been A Plesant Experience As Far As Surgery Goes, Just Unbeliviably Easy!

    January Bandsters???

Tomorrow is the big day! I am still excited, not nervous at all about the surgery, but concerned about being able to get there. We are under an ice storm warning, suppose to get pretty bad tonight. Terrified that I won't make it to the hospital or surgeries get canceled or something. Keep me in your prayers too. I'm a strong believer in prayer, and I also don't think I'd be getting this procedure if God didn't have a hand in it.

    January Bandsters???

Hi! It's 3 A.m. On Friday Morning And I'm At Work, Spent The Last Few Hours Catching Up On The Post I've Missed. I Went In For My Pre Admission Paper Work Yesterday And Met With The Anethesialogist. I Call This Evening To Find Out What Time I Have To Be At The Hospital Monday! Told The Dr. When I Met With Him Today I Can't Believe I'm So Excited About Someone Stabbing Holes In Me, But I Can Hardly Wait!!! Went And Bought A New Bicycle Yesterday Too, Decided That Is Going To Be A Big Part Of My Exercise Routine.

How are you paying for your surgery?

I feel SO blessed, if I tell you what my surgery is costing me I'm afraid you would all hate me! I have it done Monday and can hardly wait. Finished all the precert stuff today and paid the hospital up front ALL $50 of my out of pocket expense. Whoops... please don't hate me. I am so proud of you all figuring out ways to pay for yours. If I had to self pay I would never be able to. I work at the hospital and have their insurance and one of the benefits for employees is maximum expense of $50. I thank GOD everyday. My son want to have the surgery also and his insurance won't pay, so for right now we are just trying to save enough to get it done someday.

    January Bandsters???

Hi everyone, It's getting closer to my date!!! Jan. 15th. I had a sleep study done last night. I didn't have to wear the cpap machine either. I was told that it would be put on between midnight and 12:30, but when I got up for the bathroom at nearly 2 I ask her about it and she said that I didn't "qualify for the criteria requiring it" I too snore like a freight train. She let me know that my O2 sat wasn't falling very low with what 'events' that I was having. Just the horrible snoring! I'm glad I don't have to start wearing a cpap machine, I'm a little claustraphobic. I'm still being faithful to my high protein, low carb diet... but for just 3 more days, then the one day of clear liquids... then it's band day!!!!! I love this site! I haven't been able to get to the computer for the last few days and I'm several pages behind getting all the post read, but for now it's bed time, so good night everyone, may God richly bless each and everyone of us. Patsy

    Howdy from Austin TX

HI Mike, I'm using St.David's because I am a St.David's employee and they accept what our insurance pays and there isn't suppose to be any charge for us employees. I'll see if it's true when it's over and done with and the bills start coming in. Just a side note, I have 2 sons and they are both named Mike, my dog's name is Amy. lol and that's the truth! AND I certainly know where Cedar Park is, I live in Leander.

    January Bandsters???

Hello everyone, thought I'd check in. I've been doing the low carb diet now for 7 days. So far so good I guess. I haven't stepped back on the scales, refuse to do that too often (if it doesn't go down fast enough it upsets me). Amy wanted us to do a bio of ourselves so heres mine: I just turned 54 yrs old. My husband died 8 years ago Christmas day. I have 2 grown children of my own and still consider 4 of my step children as my own, but thank God they are all grown. My oldest still lives at home with me. I am an O.B. nurse, work night shift on week ends. Working nights gives an extra challange to dieting!!!!! If you've never done it, you can not fully understand. Sometime there are 24 hour days like my Thursdays, I get up Thursday morning and don't get to bed until Friday morning, about every 4 hours I 'wanta eat something' even if it's just to help me stay awake. I haven't always been fat, but for the last 20+ years I just kept getting bigger and bigger. Every diet I've ever went on, and I think I've been on them all, I lost, only to gain back more than I origianally lost. Bad enough that it scares me to be on a diet. Surgery just 14 days away!
