  1. My Dr. will NOT un-fill for any other reason that medical necessity.
  2. It's been 16 months since I had the Gov'ner installed and I have lost 100 pounds! Woo Hoo! From 344 to 244, from 56" waist to a 42", from knee pain to running steps, to a completely new wardrobe. I have 44 more pounds to lose to reach my goal but the finish line is in sight! Ya'll have a Merry Christmas.
  3. My wife(gastric bypass) an I now order 1 dinner and share it. The portions look like they are being served on a garbage can lid! the plates are HUGE! The servers look at the food left over and always ask "didn't you like the food?" Some places charge us a "plate" fee of 3-4 dollars! Went to dinner with my sister & bil, he ordered a 20oz ribeye, that hunk of meat looked like a pot roast! Once food stops being your best friend your view of food changes. I still love to eat but I have learned to savor and really enjoy the flavors and textures of food.

    100 Pounds Gone!

Patience is the key. 5 pounds in three weeks is good. I my journey I had weeks where I did not lose any weight some weeks I'd lose 5 pounds(but I'm a guy). It is a distance race, go the distance and you will get your reward. It has been frustrating at times but looking back over the last 16 months it's been pretty quick. Remember it's taken a lot of years to put the weight on, it's going to take a while to get it off. Maybe not the answer you are looking for but it is the best answer I can give you. Hang in there.

    100 Pounds Gone!

Rock on Roscoe!! Trust me there will be bumps in the road but stick with the program and you will be amazed how fast the weight will be gone. Best of Luck.
  6. Do you find people treat/observe you differently since you have lost weight? I find I get more attention from sales clerks that I did 95 pounds ago. I am not a thin, svelte, Tom Selleck kind of a guy, I’m a 49 year old, 6’, 250 lb. slightly grey haired guy. My question is: Is it because of the weight loss and I look thinner or do I project my self differently? I don’t feel like I act any different than I used to but the actions I see are markedly different.
  7. My bandaversary is August 30th. I have lost 86 pounds so far. My goal was to lose 100 pounds in 1 year. I am 14 pounds and 38 days away from my goal. I need to hit the road on my bike and the gym. Anyone want to join me in my Quest to onederland?

    Lap Band Names??

The Gov'ner. For those not familiar with motors, a governor "chokes" the supply of fuel to a motor. Gov'ner sounds better than choker:lol:
  12. 36 pounds since FEb? Thats great! I know you want it faster but you are doing awesome. I was banded 8/30/10 and I've lost 86 pounds. I am down to a size 42 pant from a 56. I hope to be down 100 pounds by my bandiversary. Hang tough! Your doing great.

    I got a "wow" :-)

My fav is running into some one you have not seen in a long time and they don't recognize you!
  14. Unfortunately they don't operate on our brain! If they ever come up with that surgery I'll be the first in line The band is just a piece of plastic. I know you know this. food was my best friend for a lot of years. I turned to food when I was tired, angry, sad, happy, lonely, bored... My nutritionist asked me (before surgery) if I had thought of what I would do after surgery when I could not turn to food as my bestie. I had not thought of that. Please believe me when I tell you after 3 or 4 fills things will get better. Time is your friend. It looks and feels bleak right now and I understand your feelings. I was in your place about a year ago. I was banded on 8/30/10. Since I have been through all the feelings and trials you are talking about. 86 pounds lost and counting. I does get easier. Good luck.
  15. Please remember they did not operate on your brain The band is only a piece of plastic. It cannot think or make good food decisions for you. I have been banded almost a year now and I still crave pizza and all the "good" stuff. Please beleive me when I tell you once you see(and feel) the weight comming off the food choices will be easier. The first I bent over to tie my shoes with loosing my breath I almost shouted outloud. Hang in there and good luck

    Plateau!!! GRRRRR!!!

Some vitiman Water has 25g of sugar. I'd try switching to Crystal Lite or Propel. 1200 to 1600 calories is what I was told would be to maintain my idea weight (once I get there!) I would suggest lowering the calorie count to 1000 to 1200. Please keep in mind this is all side line quarterbacking! Good luck and hang in there.

when will I feel myself again?

It's almost a year for me. I had gas pains for about 6 days. My belly button incision was sore for about 2 weeks. I tried to lay on my side too soon and I felt my port stiches pull. That was sore for about 4 days. Everyones tolerance for pain is different. The pain will be memory soon. Hang in there.
  18. Ain't it great! Congrats.
  19. I had a selection of smaller size pants in the back of the closet. My last size of pants were 46. I am now having to buy NEW pants! WOOOHOOO! From a 54 inch waist line to a 44 inch waist line in 8 months! I don't know where it went! it has been such a wonderful journey so far. 30 more pounds to 100 pounds lost.

    Onderland!!!!!!!!! 199.8!!!!!!!

    Woo Hoo!!! Good going!
  21. Another scale victory! I felt like I had not done well this last month but the scale moved in the right direction. 8 pounds less of me! I'm down to a size 46 from 54 back in August of '10. Ya'll hang in there! Love the Gov'ner

    Is a binge normal?

I can only speak from my own experiance, but for me after the 2nd fill binging was not an option. I could eat only so much and I found out ONE more bite was PB'ing time! So the band will do it's job and keep you from eating too much. Food has been your best friend for a long time and it takes time to change your eating/binging habits. Just don't give up. Keep working the band.
  23. My wife and I have a great system, when we eat out we order 1 meal and share it. She will ask me when she see's I am slowing down, and when I've eaten what I set aside for my self she will take both our plates away. Sometimes I see her slowing down. She has the gastric bypass. We have a great support system for each other.

    Hitting the Gym!!!

Good job joining a gym. I joined a local gym 6 months ago in hopes of starting a gut busting work out routine. Well I just started last Monday night! My first night I had a two hour work out. ( The first hour was getting my butt up off the couch!) I am starting out slow. Light weights on the machines one night and treadmill the next night. I don't want to hurt something and get off track right from the beginning. I'm going for 4 nights a week.

    New NSV

Came home tonight and the Mrs. needed some hangers. So we got into my closet and started checking sizes. Anything shirts over XL and any pants over 50 were gone. I HAD THREE BAGS! Suits, sport coats, winter coats, they all went. Wow I have an empty closet and Honey has a s&%t load of hangers! This rocks!
