So i was banded a little over 3 years ago (24 yrs old at the time) a couple of weeks after being banded I had a grapefruit size cyst removed as well as part of my ovary removed. I fully recovered from both surgeries and I'm happy to announce my weight loss of 90 lbs thanks to the band. However I have had episodes of intestinal inflammation, bladder and urinary issues, reoccuring cysts on top of painful intercourse, pain when using the restroom and pain if I'm gassy. My ob/gyn feels I have endometriosis and wants to do surgery to confirm the diagnosis. Every month 3-5 days before my period my band gets really tight and it doesnt loosen up until a few days into my period which I have read that other people have this issue too. Whats odd is I asked my band doctor about this and he said that hormones do not effect the band. However I have read that those with endo its possible for it to spread to diaphragm and that can effect the band. Endo causes inflammation so I guess maybe its possible that inflammation of the diaphragm from endo can cause tightness of the band and lt shoulder pain around that time of the month? Does any body with endometriosis have this issue? Does anybody have the tightness issue without endo? Is there any link btwn endo and band tightness?

Are bandsters able to have natural births?

I was banded in december and I'm down over 70 lbs. My last fill was 3 weeks ago and I was overfilled I've lost 14 lbs is 3 weeks. I'm miserable. I can't wait to get it readjusted. I have another 20 lbs to go and I'm confident I could do it with less fill. I've been out of town since my last fill, but I'm flying back to NY Friday to go to my dr to get an unfil. I've been taking acid reflux medicine, I've tried papaya juice and meat tenderizer, and I'm having problems keeping fluids down during the day. I just cant wait to get a slight unfill and guzzle some water.

So I am kind of freaking out. I am 24 years old. I was banded in Dec and I have lost 50 lbs which is great. Two weeks after I was banded they found an ovarian cyst which was bigger than a grapefruit on my right side. Which required surgical removal of the cyst and well as most of the ovary. Since then they found 2 more cysts on the left side that they have been monitoring. Last week I was getting really bad cramping (lower abdomen), diarhea, and I couldn't hold anything down. They did a catscan and found thickening of the small intestine-inflammation of the small bowel (illitis) and they put me on cipro and flagyl. I feel better but I still get some pains on my lower right abdomen (i have been getting these episodic pains-soreness since my ovary was removed- I know this may have something to do with scar tissue is forming. I now have to go for a barium xray this friday- then i have to follow up with my doctor the following week for the results - the next step is then a colonscopy. I just moved from ny to miami. I am away from my friends and my family. My boyfirend has been coming down here a lot since I've moved- but I feel so alone and even cursed. I feel like I'm too young to be having these problems. I had my gallbladder removed when I was 18 b/c of gallstones and now I have this. If I do have Crohns can this cause complications with the band? The doctor said the symptoms and pains I have been having has nothing to do with the band. Any info would be greatly appreaciated.

I saw somebody posted about the taco bell refried beans... even though they taste good keep in mind that taco bell adds lard into them for flavor. Also 1 taco from taco bell is 4 weight watchers points- which is good when you compare it to a burger which can be 7-9 points from a fast food place. I find I can eat chix nuggets (2-4 of them depending on the day) from wendy's or mc donalds. However I cannot eat burgers kings tnders. They were my favorite fast food nugget prior to be banded, but I tried to have them since getting a fill and I got so sick.

I was told to quit smoking 2 weeks prior to me surgery. It has to do with the anesthesia. I cut back drastically however I had 5 cigarettes the day before my surgery, 1 the morning of. I passed the lung test prior to my surgery. It's basically for clearance to make sure your lungs won't fail you during surgery. Good luck quitting.

My first fill I went back to mexico for and it was 2 ccs and I had very little restriction. WHen I followed up with my new fill dr here in ny she said i was at 1.8 and now I'm at 2.3 cc's. And I seem to have very good restriction. The reason why I went back to mexico is because I heard dr's up here in the states tend to give 1 or .5 cc's per fill and I wanted to get proper restriction from the beginning and I think I made the right decision.

Nearly two months ago I got my first fill. I had little to no restiction. I was eating a lot less than I was prior to being banded, I had a couple of problem foods (bread and chicken) but for the most part I felt like I needed more restirction- so i have my second fill scheduled for thursday. I also wasn't drinking any caffeine (ever since I had to cut out diet coke). Last week it was freezing where I live so I had some tea and coffee (with caffeine). Since then in the morning I've been having 1 cup of coffee with caffeine. And now I have restriction. Is it possible that the caffeine has caused me to have restriction. Or is there another possible explanation as to why within the past week I've gained restriction?

Ok so this is going to sound either mean or wierd. My best friend (Nadine's) good friend (Danielle) is a nice girl, she means well. However she has no idea how to interact with other females. She has only had a couple of female friends in her life and she is 25. My friend suggested that we put together a sort of a manual for her (and she wants us to). A manual that will outline the do's and dont's of being a good friend. Kind of a what to do and a what not to do. She is very inappropriate and she does not think before she speaks. ex. of her behavior- One night we were out at a club with Nadine and Danielle's coworkers. ANother good friend of ours, Mindy was out. When Mindy gets drunk she does inappropriate things with guys she barely knows. We all know this but this does not need to be verbalized with everyone- especially Nadine and Mindy's coworkers (nadine and danielle became friends in college - they now work together in a corporate setting. Mindy was talking to Danielle and Nadine's coworker when Danielle came up and advised the guys Mindy was talking too to be careful because Mindy gets drunk and likes to sleep with guys she doesn't know. another ex. Nadine and Danielle are both somewhat heavy. Nadine carries her weight well - and has curves, however Danielle does not- Danielles weight is in her midsection and neck. Nadine was upset about her weight and was trying to find an outfit to wear when Danielle made a comment about Nadine being heavy and that she was insulted because somebody said that they had the same figure. She actually said this to Nadine. Meanwhile Danielle looks heavier than Nadine because of the way she carries her weight. In additional Danielle does not know when to leave things alone, when and where to approach sore subjects. Danielle does not think before she speaks. Danielle has had a couple of pathetic realtionships with pathetic guys and she attempts to dish out advice. She is in competetion with Nadine with everything- she always wants to have one up. If Danielle buys an article of clothing, it is only because Nadine already purchased it. Danielle means well- she is not ill spirited she is just oblivious. Does anybody have any advice for this little manual.

Thank you everyone. Today there was a new incident today. I broke up with my boyfriend of 5 years ago 2 and a half years ago. Nadine broke up with her boyfriend of 5 years 2 years ago. I have had an on and off again relationship with somebody for nearly 2 years. Nadine was seeing somebody for a year. Danielle was engaged to a loser, she was with him for 2 and a half years, they moved in together after 2 weeks. He proposed with a $200 gemstone ring- by saying he had a bulge in his pocket for her. She just broke up with him 3 weeks ago. This guy was a thirty something year old virign (before her) who never had a relationship and who was into his figurines and sci-fiction more than her. She endied up leaving him. She told Nadine today that she is going to take our positive traits and become a better version of us. She is going to work out our flaws and use them to improve herself. In addition to this it won't be hard for her to find love because she doesn't date assholes like we do. Keep in mind before her "engagement" she had one few month relationship in high school, and she dated an illegal immigrant for a couple of months in college-there was a huge communication barrier. Yet she is the expert on relationships? And she is going to be better than us? This is pretty difficult considering how great Nadine and myself are. But who says this stuff. Another incident-A couple of weeks ago Nadine Danielle Jessica and myself went for dinner. Nadine slipped up about my surgery to Danielle. Jessica had no idea. During dinner she began asking questions about my surgery and when I was going to go for a fill. Nadine nipped that in the butt because she knew I was getting pissed. But Danielle knew that I was pissed Nadine slipped up about my surgery, she also knew that I didn't want anybody to know. Thank you all for listening to me as I vent. Im just perpleaxed.

Before my surgery I was doing tj 1-2x per day 5-6x times per week. I loved it. I was told by my surgeon to wait 1 week for light activity and 3 weeks before really working out. I was then told to wait 3 months to do abdominal excercises. I was banded on 12/15 and then a had a laproscopic cyst/ovary removal two weeks ago. My surgeon for the cyst said I'm ok to resume all activities. Do you think I can do TJ? I miss it.

My reward is going to be a new wardrobe (after I donate my old clothing). A bikini and a trip to the carribean!

Turbo Jam is a mix btwn kickboxing and dancing. It has decent music and it is fast paced. WHen I was doing it I saw results. I had more energy. There is quite a bit of ab work- but you never get on the floor. Its all done standing.

I have and I love it. I always loved kick boxing and I have always liked dancing. And its a mix between kickboxing and dancing. Before my surgery I was doing to TJ 1-2 x per day 5-6 x per week. I saw a difference and I felt the difference. I had more energy and when I was done working out I felt like I had worked out. I recommend it!

I was just filled on Tuedsay for my first time- 2cc's in my 4 cc band. And I was told to stick to liquids for 3 days. My question is why do I need to be on liquids. I'm sure there is a good reason.. and I just want to know what that reason is. Thank You!

I was banded on 12/15 in TJ by Dr.Ortiz. Everything was great and I leave tomorrow from NY to San Diego (then TJ) for my fill- my fill is tuesday. I have been on a medical leave from my job (starting last thurs)b/c I had a huge ovarian cyst (larger than a grapefruit) on my ovary and my ovary needed to be removed (which my doctor never warned me of the possibility of potentially losing an ovary nor did she pick up the cyst this past year- in which I have had 5 dr visits) But that is besides the point. After my band surgery i had placed my passport and birth certificate in my safe deposit box- which is on the 1st floor of the building in which i work. So basically I have my drivers license and ss card as proof of id. Is this sufficient to go over the border. I know to fly to mexico you now need a passport but I'm driving over the border. If its not sufficent I need to go to the bank before my 10 oclock flight tomorrow. And I aslo risk running into a coworker at the bank (im on a medical leave until next monday). Any info will help. I went to my gyn because I have been having pain on my right side. I noticed the pain a day or two before my lap band surgery which was on 12/15, when I was having sex I had gotten a sharp pain on my right side. I went ahead with the surgery and the preop tests showed that everything was fine- it doesn't check for ovarian problems. I had my surgery and I recovered pretty quickly. But the pain on my right side has gotten worse. It's gotten to the point that when i sneeze cough laugh or go to the bathroom- that the pain comes) Today when I went to my gyn she decided to do an ultrasound b/c when she did the touch test she felt something. They did the ultrasound and I have a huge cyst. She wanted to operate today (she knew about my other surgery) but my mother is in Vegas my boyfriend is in Florida and I'm not ready. I have to go tuesday to make an appointment. The dr said i need to take it easy b/c stress to my body can cause it to rupture. I have to go under anestesia and have another laproscopic surgery. I had my gallbladder out 6 years ago, I had the lapband surgery two and a half weeks ago. This will be 2 surgeries in one month. To make matters worse I told my employer that I was having a cyst removed when i got the lapband surgery and now I really need to get it done. I may need to file for short term disability- which my hr dept was trying to get me to do when I went for the lap band. Instead of using std i just used my sick time and I'm running out of days. I may have to come clean to my human resource specialist about my surgeries/ If i'm not mistaken by law she cannot tell my managers about the details. But does anybody know for sure?:cry

I'm so excited right now. I was a self pay for the band- I knew my insurance wouldn't cover it b/c I didn't meet the criteria. So I was banded in TJ by Dr. Ortiz. I was looking for a fill dr in NY and the name Christine Ren kept coming up. So I called her and s/w the receptionist who askd for my insurance info. It turns out she is one of my insurance's network providers and my copay is only $15.00 I called my insurance to ensure this was covered and it is, b/c is considered a specialist visit. I just figured I would let everyone know , b/c I had no idea this would be covered.
