  1. Hi, this is my first time here. I have a question for all of you "banded" people out there.... I had surgery in late October of 2008 (about a year and a half ago). I have lost about 80lbs. Amazing, i wouldn't trade my decision for anything in the world. HOWEVER!! I am told that i look amazing! And i do see it, and i am very happy with my progress so far, but the person i see in the mirror and the person that i see in my head are two VERY different people. In my head i see this heavy self conscious girl. Is anyone else having trouble trying to put mirror over mind?!:party::smile2:
  2. I am so glad to know that i am not the only one battling this wierd thing goin on!! I am so messed up in my head by this it scares me! I see the girl in the mirror and love what i see but when i walk away from the mirror i forget. I am really torn up by this. This is the deal.... Sorry to blab but noone really understands what is going on in my head... hoping someone banded will.... My boyfriend is thinner then i am, and about an inch shorter. We have been together for over a year and recently (3ish months ago) moved in together. I have not met his close friends that he grew up with because he rarely sees them. They don't even know that he has a girl friend. (This is partially my fault) He is going to one of their weddings within a few weeks... i don't even know when it is to be honest... and i told him i wasn't going... first off bc i don't think that is the right place to meet them and second... i still see myself as the fat girl and i after being teased about my weight for a LONG time i am terrified to overhear someone say that "he is dating the fat girl"... my friends have told me i have to go to the wedding, but it is too late to go now. He already told them that he was going solo. Why do i feel like this?!?!

    Food Suggestions

Look into getting OPT-FAST. My surgon sold it. This juice box has all the nutients that banded patients need. You can have up to 4 per day. (however, i found that more the 2 rough!) Egg Drop Soup, chicken broth, Mashed potatoes (decently thin) became my BEST FRIEND! Jello, strained milky Soups (lobster bisque) with some added milk make you feel like you are getting something into your stomach. You really should be having any "soft solids" until your first check up (maybe a week after surgery). Egg salad, mushed tuna fish, crab meat, white non oily fish, dark meat chicken... mush mush mush everything!!!

    Vomiting 2 days post op

VOMITING THAT SOON AFTER POST OP IS VERY DANGEROUS!!!! Call your doctors immediately and ask them to call in an anti-nausea med! My doc sent me home with one. This is very important... VERY!!! Do not let anyone tell you that it is ok to be vomiting immediately following post op!!!!
