I haven't made the decision yet about which surgery to go with.  I've seen many go both ways, and I'm still trying to decide if RNY would be a better fit than the band.  I've been researching it since 2008, but due to exclusions in insurance, and what-ifs (what if there's a problem and my insurance won't cover the repairs needed?), I've put it off.  I'm a state of Texas employee, Health Select PPO, and curious to find out what surgeries the insurance is going to cover.  It's my understanding that bariatric surgery is going to be covered effective September 2010, and I'm ecstatic for all of us.  It's my understanding you have to have 5 years of state employment behind you and be prepared for a $5000 deductible outside of the regular costs/charges, but at least it is something!!  All that considered, I'm trying to find a doctor in west Texas too...single Mom, makes this that much more complicated to work out.    Like so many others, I've lost a ton of weight (literally) and always gained it back. I know I need to cope with stress in healthier ways, but I clearly can't do this on my own. I need some professional help!!! Something that works for me...if it's meant to be, it will be.
