  1. Just wanted to update... I heard back from my nutritionist and she said I should be consuming 800 calories and 60 grams of Protein, this would have been nice to know from the beginning. Oh well. So, it looks like I've got some food to consume.
  2. Thank you all for your suggestions. I think I did pretty good today. I'm up to about 500 calories and I'm getting ready to go work out, so I may have another Protein shake after. I pretty much stayed with the same food, but added in the Protein shakes. I wanted to get another one in earlier, but my planning was off. My oldest has football practice for 3 hours Tues-Fri. evenings, so I'm trying to plan around being up at the field during that time. Oh well, it will get better. I'll probably end up throwing a shake into the cooler to drink half way through. Oh, I am up to about 50 grams of protein, so I think, like many of you said, it will definitely be beneficial for me to get down 2-3 protein shakes during the day. I still haven't heard from my nutritionist, but I'm just gonna steam roll right ahead with the wonderful advice from all you lovelies. BTW, I already feel better, is that possible? I don't feel as exhausted as I normally do at 9:30pm, I'm on my way to work out after all! THANKS!!!!
  3. Thank you all!!! I'm going to work on increasing my calories today and hopefully my body will decide to let go of some more poundage. We read through all the material again last night and my husband said that maybe they write it super strict assuming people are going to cheat. Well, that sucks for the people who don't cheat and end up consuming 250 calories a day. The thing that irks me is that there are absolutely no calorie guidelines in any of it. Basically says 3, 1/2 cup meals per day, no snacking. Well, it's no wonder that I haven't been eating more than 250 calories. BAH! My goal today, with the Protein shakes will be about 600 calories and we'll go from there. Hopefully my nutritionist responds soon. Thanks again!!!
  4. I did actually e-mail my nutritionist, pretty much basically everything I posted in this thread. So we'll see what she says. I honestly thought this was, I guess, normal. When I had my initial consult with the nutritionist, she gave me a sample menu for a 1200 calorie diet. I had asked her if this was for after and she said "Oh no no, this is for before, after surgery you will be eating a lot less." So, I guess I assumed 250-300 calories, was, well, a lot less. I put a bunch of my Protein shakes in the fridge and they are 100 calories per serving, so I'll start with them 2-3 times a day. I'll update after my nutritionist e-mails me back with what she has to say. Thanks for all of your replies! I feel like an idiot , but even my husband went through all my nutrition info and doesn't see where I'm NOT following what they recommend. He monitors my food like crazy because he is afraid I'll become malnourished and sick, so he's pretty thankful for all your replies too.
  5. I take a Flintstones multi Vitamin, a chewable Vitamin C and a liquid Calcium supplement. I was told to also take a zinc supplement, but I haven't yet. Oh, they also have me taking Zegerid powder once a day for 6 months.
  6. I do have a case of those Optisource Bariatric shakes, I'll try drinking one of those a day. Probably half in the morning and half in the afternoon. Spread my meals out further apart.
  7. I just don't know how I could eat more because I am full after 1/2 cup of food. And full for about 3 hours and I space my meals out at about 4 hours. I really don't feel like I can eat more, at all. I'm not even scheduled for a fill until 9/23 and at this point, I'm fine with that because I couldn't eat more with my meals if I wanted. I am exercising about 30-60 minutes a day, between being on my TreadClimber or jogging on the treadmill, so I'm burning about 300 calories give or take I think. I will admit, although I feel good, I am exhausted and pretty much collapse on my bed, earlier than I ever have. I have lost some decent weight, but in the last 4 days, I've lost 1/2 a pound. Which I'm sure is my body saying I'm not giving anything up, but, I just don't know where to go from here. I cannot put anything more in this stomach without feeling that I need to be rolled around the house.
  8. That what I thought! This is my typical day... Breakfast 1/4 cup Egg Beaters 1/4 cup of Fat Free Cottage cheese or 1/4 cup of Danon Light & Fit Yogurt Total about 80 calories (about 11 grams of protein) lunch 2oz of canned chicken Breast 1/4 cup of Fat Free Cottage Cheese Total about 55 calories (about 11 grams of protein) dinner 1/4 cup pureed Soup or chili 1/4 cup Fat Free Refried Beans, yogurt or cottage cheese Total about 100 calories (about 7-10 grams of protein) My husband thinks there is no way I can continue like this, but I don't know what else to do... I feel fine. I get full, etc... What was all your intakes at this point? Has anybody mixed unflavored Isopure with Crystal Light?
  9. UGH - I'm getting about 30 grams of Protein per day, but all my nutrition paperwork says I should be getting about 50-60. Where on earth do I get this from? I'm on 'soft' foods, banded on 7/29. I'm eating 1/2 cup of food, 3 x's per day, about 250 calories total for the day. Where can I pull this protein from out of that? No snacking, drinking 2 oz's of Water every 15 minutes... I mean, there isn't a lot of room to fit more protein in. Help!!!
  10. haha - thank you all for your stories. I love not feeling like I'm the lone person in the universe going through this! I don't personally know of anybody who has had this done, so just you online folks. I got to have some Cream of Wheat this morning. I was nervous though and didn't even eat half of the 1/4 cup that I was allowed. Now I'm starving (that'll teach me), but this is actually the first time I've been hungry since surgery, so can't complain too much. Dawn - Congrats on stopping smoking! Good for you. I'm surprised that you were given actual pills for the pain?!?! I was given this big ole gargantuan bottle of Codeine elixir. I can't even imagine having to take it in a crushed up pill form without vomiting. Thanks again everyone, I'm really liking this site a lot more than the other one I was on.
  11. Thank you all for the replies! It's nice to know others feel or have felt the same way. I will admit, I am excited to get a little more than chicken broth and Isopure. If I never have chicken broth again, it will be far too soon.
  12. So... I was banded on 7/29 and everything went AWESOME. I could not be more happy with this decision. I was in the hospital until Friday and came home and started my clear liquid diet. I'm still on it and can move up to full liquids tomorrow. Which I'm fine with. But, I was thinking about a month down the road and maybe it will get better, but, I'm scared to eat and scared even thinking of the possibility of eating. Anyone ever feel like this? I'm scared of ANYTHING getting stuck and going through the pain of it. I'm babying this band like nobody's business. On another note, I had my post op appt this morning and I've lost 8 pounds since Thursday and 23 since the start of my pre-op diet on 7/13. YAY me!!!
  13. FINALLY! I started on this whole LapBand journey over 3 years ago and tomorrow, finally, I'm getting banded. I'm nervous and excited beyond belief. I can't believe this is FINALLY happening. Fear of the unknown, but definitely no fear of the band. I'm SO ready. I know I'm new here, but wish me luck, PLEASE!
  14. Thank you! I'm definitely excited and can hardly contain myself at this point, but almost nervous enough to be a little queasy too!
  15. Wow... I'm relieved to find this site, I've lurked for a bit. I'm having surgery this Thursday (7/29) and I've been a member of another site that encompasses all types of WLS. However, the more and more I read, the more negative it seemed towards LAP-BAND® and there was little to no moderation (of the ridiculous negativity), going into surgery, that is definitely not what I need right now. Hmmm... A little about myself. 32, have two boy (9 and 5), married my HS sweetheart. I'm a financial business systems consultant. In my spare time, I love to read, I'm a music fanatic and spend a lot of time as a Moderator on a forum for women (I feel kind of goofy being at the Introduction stage of a board again). We love to camp and hike and our boys keep us insanely busy, so another reason I'm looking forward to surgery. I think that is me in a nutshell! Hope to get some support and make some friends along the way!
