I have always been just a little overweight maybe 15 pounds or so and of course, genetics and lifestyle played a huge role in my youth  As I became a young adult my weight was in the normal range for my height but once I met my husband my weight began to rise.  Five years later, after the birth of my son, I gained a whopping 100 pounds and for my height, I could barely even walk.  My life since then, has been a series of diets, exercise gyms, fasts, etc etc.  Oh I would lose weight allright but it would always creep back up one way or another.  While all this was happening, I lost my husband to cancer and needless to say, this was a very difficult time for me.    I now had to raise my son alone and take on all the stresses of a single parent.  Two years ago, I had finally found a great weight plan and exercise regime for myself and had lost a lot of weight but at just about the same time, I started to develop serious back disc problems.  I had to stop my daily walks and of course, within a few months my weight was back up again and I was bigger than ever.  Honestly I had considered doing the LapBand in prior years but because it was not covered by my insurance and was so unaffordable for me, I had just given up and decided I would just accept my fate with my weight issues.  For some unknown reason I decided to change my insurance plan this year 2010 and on a whim called my insurance to see if the LapBand would be covered and IT WAS!!  In my amazement, I started to look for a doctor to perform the procedure and found Dr. Nguyen of Orange.  I havd read much about this doctor and heard nothing but great things.  I will be having my procedure on July 21, 2010 and am currently preparing myself mentally for the days ahead.  I am so excited to change my life in a positive way and in a more active way.  I have put my back surgery on hold as I know the Lapband may have an affect on that.  I am certain I will still need to have back surgery but it will be easier I think for the surgeon after I take some weight off and easier for myself.  Please send some prayers my way, I need all the help I can get at this point.
