  1. First let me say I'm sorry for your pain:sad: and for the fact that you are discouraged. Everyone is different and only you know your body and how you feel - that said - it seems too soon to give up. I had a very rough time in recovery after my band (placed 7/20/10) and missed an extra week of work, cried daily and wondered "was it worth it"? I was in such pain in the recovery room I voiced that thought, but the sweet nurse said "you have to look at the big picture honey". So, 2 & 1/2 weeks later things look very different. I feel better, can eat more, and have less pain. I waited so long and jumped through so many hoops, had gall bladder removal only a month prior to banding, to get here I just want to tough it out. The weight is coming off and I feel prettier already (that may just be in my head but I'll take it). Have faith friend, nothing happens overnight. And call your doctor as many times as it takes to get an answer - that's part of the procedure in my opinion.

    Please help !!!!!

A few years go I went to Al-ANON (support for families of addicts/alcoholica) and I learned a great phrase. You have "stinking thinking", meaning you are in the frame of mind of your old self, that you 'blew it', that you're a 'failure', etc. STOP!! You have made a fantastic positive change for a better future for yourself. A healthy body and a thinner profile. Forget yesterday, it's gone. Tomorrow is a promise and a gift, remember that and do what you need to get back on track. Liquids for a couple days should make that happen. All best wishes - you've come this far - you can go all the way.:smile2:

    Any July Bandsters.....

YES! After jumping through hoops for 7 months, the deed was finally done Tuesday, July 20 and I have just been through the worst 3 days of my life, pain-wise. Not the surgery itself but the complications arising from the gas used during the procedure. I was told that it happens about 40% of the time and it lodged in my back neck & head. The doctor said it would have to go away on its own, there was no help except to walk and try to get it moving. After 2 days on liquid Vicodin (no relief at all) I finally chopped 2 Vicodin capsules into about 12 piece and got some much needed pain relief. Before that I was in such discomfort I couldn't even sleep. Today I got a shower (hallelujah) and a long nap. Doing well on the broth and liquids & am relieved that I don't want more, but looking forward to some thin mashed potatoes in a couple of weeks. Has anyone else gone through this?

    Any July Bandsters.....

My surgery date is 7/20 & I can't wait! I am more than excited, I'm estatic. I want the rest of my life to be a healthier, skinnier one. A week ago I underwent gall bladder removal in preparation for the band and it was all worth it. It must have been causing trouble (no attacks though) because I already feel better.
  5. Hello everyone - got the notice yesterday that my surgery date is 7/20/2010. Before LAP-BAND® I have to have my gall bladder removed, do some healing & be on a liquid fast for 2 weeks prior to the surgery. Everyone I have talked to says the fast will be the hardest part of the whole process, but I am very motivated and feel strong enough to do it. Has anyone else gone through these steps? If so,could you share your experiences?:smile2:
