  1. Great information, I have had horrible reflux and throwing up at night for 7 weeks... Aspiration and breathing issues as a result, I went today and had .5 cc's removed. I'm very sorry for your loss.
  2. I had my first fill last week and I have absolutley no restriction. I having a hard time controing my portions and Im worried Im going to strectch my pouch out. The Dr put in 2.5cc.... Is this normal. Am I going to sabatoge my upper pouch while I wait for restriction? My next fill is in 6 weeks, can I get one sooner. Im afraid I will gain al my weight back if I wait until then.
  3. I am feeling the same exact way... weighing 3 times a day, getting depressed about the toggling scale. The horrible cravings! Today we went out to eat after church, the only mushie thing I could find on the menu was chicken n dumplings. Now I have felt guilty all day for eating that. Im suppose to be on purees strickly but I find myself justifying soft foods that I can chew, chew, & chew until its nearly nothing. Im 4 weeks out at this point,,, is anyone else eating things like fish, chicken salad, this type of consistency without pureeing and just over chewing? Is this okay? Im not having any discomfort Nor any restriction. Im trying to cut the portions but is the consistency going to hurt me?
  4. I am in need of some serious help. I am 3.5 weeks out and starving. I do not get my first fill for another 2 weeks and have no restriction what so ever at this point. I havent been sick in the slightest and have lost 23 lbs thus far but for the last week I have caught the scale toggling back and forth between 232-235. I want to contribute it to what I am eating. I know Im not getting nearly enough protien. I work full time and have a 2 year old so I dont have a ton of time to prepare. Im suppose to be on purres but I find myself eating anything I consider mushy. I need some ideas of things that are easy and fast. Even things that can be kept at the office or acceptable drive thru ideas... Please help me I have got to figure this out.
  5. Im sure most of what you are feeling is swelling. My band was put in empty and I remember feeling the way you are describing. However I am now 3.5 weeks out and STARVING.. I dont get my first fill for 2 more weeks and cant wait. Some of the uncomfortableness is probably from gas also, I used a heating pad constantly for those first few days. Good Luck!
  6. I to had something wierd going on. I had my period 3 days before surgery and then again 3 days after. I was wondering if that was normal, I was kind of worried about it.
  7. I would definitley write a letter to the hospital, and your insurance if you have it. I was self pay, so the hospitals negligence in my circumstance would have really put me in a financial nightmare. I definitley do not think that you should be responsible for any extra charges personally for the extra day. As for the blood work mix up, this has actually happened to me before 2 years ago. It probably was not the Drs offices fault, it was prob a mix up at the lab. I got a call from my pcp 2 years ago and was told to meet him personally at our local ER. That I had a blood disorder called ITP where my blood cells do not clot and apparently my platelet count was so low, if I was to get cut, I would bleed to death before I could get to a hosipital. Turns out after 6 months of testing, IM FINE! Praise God. Test mix ups happen and I think you would have a hard time pin pointing whos mistake it actually was. I would definitley try to work out the hospital charges. My guess is you can probably get it worked out without an attorney. Try writing them the letter first, if that doesnt work out, seek a local attorney and ask them to write the letter on their letterhead and send it certified mail. I have had to do this once before when I was ripped off. My attorney only charged me $100 to write the letter. GOOD LUCK!
  8. I was also banded the 4th and have had no energy! Im sure its just our bodies recovering from the surgery. I am going for my post op visit tomorrow. Im looking forward to hearing what the Dr has to say.
  9. Im a Dr Macik patient als. However quite a bit behind you, I was just banded Oct 4th. How has your results been?
  10. Wow! Its amazing how different all of our post-op instructions are. I was banded Monday so im on Day 3. Clear Liquids only for me for days 1-2, Days 3-14 full liquids (protien shakes), Week 3- Week 6 puree foods only. I can start mushy and solids after 6 weeks. I had a hiatal hernia corrected also though. Im down 10 lbs since I started pre-op diet. Im suppose to walk a little bit every 2 hours. The biggest problem for me now is drinking enough. Congrats to you guys I cant wait to keep on hearing how you all are doing.
  11. Just curious how all of your operations went..? Im sore as heck! I had to have a hiatal hernia correction also, so I think that it where I am hurting the most. Let me know how you all did!
  12. Tomorrow is the big day for me aswell. Im so nervous, scared, excited, etc. I go in at 6:30 for a 7:30 procedure. This liquid diet has been no fun today, and it looks like I better get use to it! Good luck to you guys! We should all keep in touch on our progress since we are being banded at the same time.
  13. Well I have been researching the LAP-BAND® for quite a while. I have finally got through the consultation with My Surgeon ( Dr. Macik ) and clearance from my PCP, I go for more test (upper GI and Chest Xray) tomorrow. Im starting to get really excited. If all goes as planned, Ill get my band at the beginning of October. I can hardly wait and I think Im starting to get obsessed with reading all of your blogs, threads, etc. I cannot wait, Im a self pay patient and in Atlanta the average cost is around $17k, so this has been a very difficult decision for me to make. I have struggled with the idea of not being sucessful or complications costing me more money. But I am so ready to work hard and get this weight off. I have saved up and there is no better time than now!!! Im only 25 years old and have a 2 year old, I cant wait to be able to get in the floor and play with my kid and actually get back up...
