Hi Friends!! I had been complaining how restrictive my post op diet is and how hungry I am with the hunger pain and finally figured I was in the throws of Bandster Hell!! So in a fit of hunger pain, (10 days out) I cut a dice size of hard chedder cheese and am sucking on it like a hard candy. this is making me feel better and I love the taste, but is this real bad for me to do? It's kind of like cheese juice going down. Mentally and physically this makes me feel better. I did it once last night and once tonight. I never even heard of bandster hell until it happened to me.

Yes, I am thinking that the post op diet that the coordinator gave me is the same one that they use for bypass patients also. 10 days of clear liquid is about enough as I can take. My stomach is giving me hungry pains unless I drink broth or eat jello or a popcicle. So tomorrow it will have been 10 days since the surgery and I am thinking seriously about going to the next stage of full liquids. So what constitutes Full liquids? Because I am gonna start it tomorrow!! Does anybody have any yummy filling ideas for full liquids? This whole post diet thing is driving me to drink!! (clear juice that is) hehe.... Also, what were many of you doing for nurishment after day ten? Thanks again for your wonderful replies. Everyone is sooo helpful!!

Hi July Bandsters 07!!:clap2: Congrats to all who have had the banding and best wishes to those of you who are waiting to get banded!! I was banded last thursday and now my doctor has me on a two week diet of clear liquids and then two weeks of full liquids and then two weeks of blended and then two weeks of soft food. I am still on my first stage of clear liquid diet and I am sooooo hungry!!! I would love to just stuff my face with a taco or a sandwich!!! I'm dieing here!!! Can I have any words of advice to please help me remember why I can't have a darn taco right now? I'm so tired of liquids!!:tired PS..I am a baby and hate rules LOL!!:cry

Dr Paya banded me on 7-19-07:) It was a great experience and I have all the trust in him in the world. Good luck to you!

Thank you everyone for the words of encouragement and great advice. Tomorrow will be my 3rd day post op and I am hoping for a less painful day. The two things that are killing me are coughing and getting out of bed. My walking is getting further and further but after a while, I get dizzy and need to lie down. I am hoping when I reach one more week, I will have much more energy to actually get to know you all and spend more time with my banded and pre banded buddies on the site. I have so much faith in this tool. I have a goal pair of jeans hanging up in my closet, so I can't wait for the day where I can slip them on easily and rejoice!!! Hi Lucky # Sevens!!, Just got banded thursday and got home from the hospital last night. I can't take any pain med because it make me so nauseated and I am walking real slow. My whole body just aches. Please tell me this gets better soon!!:car: Anyway other than that, I am so very happy to be a bandster and I know that in my heart that this was the right choice for me. Oh my throat feels awful and I found out that the anisthesiologist had a hard time intubating me and had to call another doctor to try it. So my upper lip is swollen and has a sore. Oh also, I am not hungry or thirsty and just looking at food or smelling it makes me nauseated too:confused: I have to keep reminding myself to drink the clear fluids and eat jello. What about crunchy chicken tacos? My all time fav place is a wonderful Mexican restaurant. Their tacos are the best I have ever had. I worry that I may never be able to enjoy one..ever again..sniff....(they also put guacamole on top of it and it is out of this world!!!

Tomorrow, I will have pre op blood tests and chest xrays!! Then wed bowel prep and then thursday I will officially be a bandster!!!:clap2:

I was afraid to tell my boss, but she is really easy to talk to and suprisingly enough she was thrilled for me!! She keeps calling it a, "Band aid" procedure. Oh well, what ever works:)

Thanks Faith:) My surgeon is very experienced with the bypass and I think he has only been doing the lapband for about three years, so I have a suspiction that he has all of his patients do the same pre-op. I have been on optifast mixed with milk since last Wed.(no food)ughhh!!!! I am going to ask him about the cathater because I want to walk as much as I can after surgery without the darn cathater getting in my way:)

Does anybody know why I am supposed to be off any milk products for three days(pre-op) and have a bowel prep the day before surgery? Surgeon also told me that I will have a catheter in for 24 hours until I go home the next day.

My doctor said thay he will send me home with a rx for liquid Lortab. I hope I don't have to use much of it:)

Thank you Serena, I am going to my last surgeon appt tomorrow before my surgery on the 19th of July. So I will try not to forget to ask about it.

Do folks usually leave the hospital with some liquid RX pain medication for the next few days after surgery? I have some liquid adult Tylenol, but what if I need something stronger? Thanks for any replys:)

Are we allowed to take a chewable vitamin right after surgery? I got a bottle of Natures Plus adults chewable. Tastes like pineapple!! Or do we wait until a different stage?

I am allowed to eat popsicles for snacks pre-op. I havent had a popsicle since I was a little girl. Can anyone recommend a popsicle brand that tastes really tastey? Oh I suppose it needs to be SF as well. Some of my favorite flavors are Grape,cherry,strawberry or if there are new and inproved ones with exotic flavors like pineapple/coconut? Is there any popsicle that comes in chocolate flavor? Sorry to go on and on about this, but It's kind of important to me. Thanks go to anyone who has some recommendations for me in the area of pre/op diet. Janiee :kiss2:
