Weight loss from July 2010 to November 2011 Total weight lost 123.5 lbs and 101.5 inches lost.
  2. Firstly congrats to all on this thread who either have or are having band with Dr Chris. He's great. Hopefully my ticker says it all. He will take a bank transfer and this can be paid in one go directly with Frederik into the bank in Belgium. I paid all of mine upfront before I went in July 2010 as I didn't want to carry the cash. As you say it is a personal experience but you will find lots of positive support on here and another thread "Does anyone know Dr Chris de Brueyne" do a search for Belgium and it will come up. I love having my band and my journey over the last 10 months has been interesting. Please feel free to read my journal and ask any questions you may have. Tonight, I am celebrating with a lovely glass of rose because I am in a size 12 trousers and top and I have 13 pounds to go until I reach my target weight of 106.5 pounds loss. So a very happy bunny who is so pleased she went and spent the money so wisely! Enjoy your journeys and please let us know how you all get on. Take care Claire x
  3. Hello all I have just seen this area for July 2010 bandsters. Is it ok if I join in? I was banded by Dr Chris in Belgium July 31st 2010 and to date I have lost 6 stone (84 pounds) and my target is 106.5 pounds to get my BMI under 25 and be able to have further surgery to sort the top half of me out. Feel free to follow the link to my weightloss journal. I would love a T-shirt that says "been there, done that etc" as I have had the awful vomiting episodes, the restriction that has lasted from October to March and where I have lived on Soup, soup and more soup because I found eating solids so difficult. I am 22 pounds off of my target and look at this as a stroll in the park. I am very focused and want to achieve this target so much as my life has become so much better since the surgery and I know that I will feel a lot more positive about myself once I have had the other surgery. I have 5.5mls in my band and am due to go for another fill in two weeks. I am hoping that will be my last one but then that could be wishful thinking. Anyway lovely to see other July bandsters here and look forward to reading their experiences. Take care Claire

  5. I have responded on this thread http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f11/anyone-know-dr-de-bruyne-chris-41669/index697.html#post1549180 I post mainly on the one above and at the following link: Mummiesbb journal HTH Claire
  6. Absolutely no regrets. Banded end of July by Dr Chris and his fab team. In twelve weeks lost 34 pounds and approx 31 inches. So definately no regrets from this quarter! Gas pain and pain on my right hand side rather than port side. They will look fater you interms of fluids and pain relief you just need to ask and they will give you them through an IV. Didn't fly to Belgium went by Eurostar but there were others who did fly the next day just be aware that you will feel tight in the abdomen area. After all it is surgery and your body needs time to recover. Hope all goes well in November. Best decision you can make if you want to take control and have ownership over your body and your weight again!
  7. Hello Dr Chris and his associates do visits to Ireland for fills in Belfast, Cork and Dublin. HTH Claire
  8. What a load of utter rubbish, you need to visis this thread http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f11/anyone-know-dr-de-bruyne-chris-41669/index688.html I had my band on the 30th July 2010 and since then, which is now 11 weeks, I have lost 33 pounds and 29.5 inches I think your doctor is talking out of his  arse (sorry if this upsets anyone) What a T * * T I think he needs to get his facts straight. The band is a tool and when you put in the right amount of good nutrition then it rewards you by helping you to lose weight. Obviously you can still eat rubbish but there are certain things that will be hard to digest and the above thread and others on the forum will help you with this. You have to do what is right for you and only you can make that decision. Your GP is entitled to their view but they could at least be better informed about the outcomes of a gastric band. It's the best thing I have ever done and wish I had done it earlier. There are lots of people on the other thread who will also say the same. Dr Chris is brilliant and the team are very caring and look after you very well. HTH Claire
  9. The Campanile in Vilvoorde. If you book direct with Frederik then the hotels and taxis are included in the package. Less hassle and easy of you are flying or taking the train to Belgium. HTH
  10. If you are looking for good value, excellent care and a professional doctor/medical team in Europe, take a look at Dr Chris De Bruyne in Belgium.
  11. Hello scheduled for July 30th in Brussels with De Chris De Breuyne - can't wait - very excited. Claire:smile2:
  12. Hello All, I'm Claire from Northants and I lost a significant amount of weight (5 stone) and then had another baby and it just doesn't want to shift. I have read some amazing weight loss testimonials on this site. Well done to everyone. I have seriously been considering a lap band since October 2009. I was referred into the NHS but my GP wasn't confident that I would be able to get funding as I don't have anything wrong with me (Yet!) i.e. diabetes. Although I see this as a preventative; I have a family health history of diabetes from both sides, a triple bypass on paternal side and just feel like I am a ticking bomb just waiting to turn a certain age and boooooom! I had an ACL replacement in 2008 and it is stable but I am forever being told you need to lose weight. At the referral I felt so bullied as I do genuinely think that the lack of exercise (since the knee op) and an underactive thyroid contribute to my excess weight. I was bullied by the Consultant and it was a horrible experience. He told me that I was a secret binge eater in the fridge in the early hours and that he would get me to admit it before he would agree to any surgery. I wish I am so tired I go to bed and sleep. Just appalling to be treated like this. I came away feeling very disheartened and quite shell shocked that people are treated in this way when they are genuinely asking for help. I was advised to join a weight loss group. I went along and the lady who ran it could see that I knew what I was talking about as we eat very healthily and cook (low fat) and she blatantly told me that exercise in her view made absolutely no difference. Having been a PE teacher and sports mad for many years I had to disagree and choose not to go back (what a surprise). So I have mulled and mulled and finally came to a decision and confided in my husband and my mum. I am provisionally booked in with Dr Chris in Belgium for the 30th July 2010 subject to deposit and borrowing some money. I am saving like crazy and every little bit is in an envelope. I don't have any doubts as I feel that this forum and others blogs have helped me. I am planning to use Herbalife as a supplement as it is not just a weight loss product but used to build people up and maintain weight. In some ways I see this as a new era in my life I have two lovely children, we would have had more but we have chosen not to. So I want to move forward positively as I have been on the receiving end of some nasty comments from employers e.g. "you don't fit the image of a PE teacher" okay so I don't represent my country and I'm not stick thin but the kids I taught loved PE and had positive experiences. I am not doing this for vanity I am doing it so that I feel happy being in a photograph, so that I can run around with my children playing footie and not risk rupturing the repair and so that I can feel more positive. I'll put up with anything that the surgery wants to throw at me and afterwards. Sorry for going on but oh it feels so good to have that off my chest. If I don't manage to get all the money together I will postpone July but I will defnately be getting it done. Take care and thank you for reading if you have got this far.
