    November Bandsters!

Slowly I am learning what I need to do. Before my fill I could take pills without crushing them. After my fill (only 1.5 cc in a 4 cc band) I would throw up every day. Sometimes even after liquids! Yesterday I crushed all my pills and didn't throw up once! I'm wondering if maybe my pills was causing blockage. I'm not sure how long it takes those pills to disolve but the last week has been pretty tough. I was afraid to eat! I kept remembering the pain I would get, having to throw up and that would stop me from eating. Yes, the weight loss was great. Almost 1lb per day. Everyday is a learning experience. Whether it's crushing the pills or not, it seems to be better so I'll keep crushing them. - My fill has definately made a difference.

    What the Heck!!!

I got my lapband on 11/13/06. Lost 15 lbs in the first three weeks, nothing the next 5 weeks until my first fill which I got this past Saturday 1/6/07. I have a 4CC band and got a 1.5 CC fill. I could feel the difference immediately. I can only hold about two spoonfulls of food and if I go over that I have tremendous pain and have to throw up to relieve the pain. After going through that a couple of times I've learned my lesson. I'm scared to eat more than the two spoonfulls. The pain is not pleasant! I never had any pain like this before my fill. I'm losing weight again because I hardly eat! I work on my protien drinks first then try to eat a couple of bites of soft food. It's actually great to have the restriction. Prior to my fill I ate way too much and went 5 weeks without any weight loss. My doctor told me as I lose weight and my stomach gets smaller the restriction will be less and I will need another fill. November Bandsters!

I was banded on 11/13. Lost 15 lbs in three weeks and then stopped losing weight. Did not lose any weight the next five weeks (it's hard to be good during the holiday's) I actually gained 4 lbs. I had my first fill this past Saturday (1/6/07) I have a 4 CC band and was filled 1.5 CC. Wow, what a difference! I'm not sure if it's because my stomach is sensitive from the fill but I cannot eat hardly anything. Liquids are fine but I have to drink really slowly. As far as soft foods - only 2 -3 spoonfulls. If I go over that, the pain starts up. Before the fill I never had this type of pain before even when I ate too much. Just thinking about it makes me stay away from food. I've lost the 4 lbs. I gained plus an extra 2.5 lbs. Now I am at 17.5 total pounds lost. That five weeks of not losing really set me back but I'm looking forward to the next few weeks. I'm not suffering from hunger. It's been really tolerable. I wonder if this will change in the next few days when my stomach settles down. Anyway, I'm enjoying my first fill. Lea
  4. I was banded last Monday 11/13 and it's amazing what a difference a week makes. I feel really great this week. One thing is though, I'm always burping! Small little ones - continuously. Why is this??? Will this continue???? Aloha Lea

    November Bandsters!

It's amazing how much difference a week makes. I was banded last Monday 11/13 and this past Sunday while sleeping noticed a big difference in how much my stomach didn't hurt. I didn't take any pain meds yesterday or today and it's very tolerable. It feels good like I on my way to feeling normal again. I've lost 9.5 lbs as of today - 8 days after surgery and that's exciting. I know it will start slowing down but still it helps my motivation. I see my doctor for my first post op visit on 12/2 and hopefully I'll get a fill off some sorts. One thing is I'm always burping! Small little ones - continuously. Why is this??? Will this continue???? Aloha Lea

    November Bandsters!

Well it's been two days since my lap-band and I feel a little sore around my stomach. Still tolerable though. I have pain meds and have been taking them to keep myself comfortable. The pain is mostly when I sit down and get up. My flight back to Hawaii is in a few hours and I'm looking forward to being back home. I'll update my progress later. Aloha, Lea

    November Bandsters!

Hi everyone. I wanted to share my experience since I've learned so much from everyone sharing their experiences. I was banded yesterday in San Francisco by Dr. Cirangle at California Pacific Medical Center. It was as good as I could have wanted it. Surgery took approx. 1.5 hrs. When I woke up on the recovery room I had a splitting headache, some pain and nausea. Nothing I couldn't handle. Because my surgery was late in the afternoon and because I was doing this solo (I'm from Hawaii and came to San Francisco by myself) I stayed overnight at the hospital. I didn't have any pain from gas. In fact my pain from surgery was mild. The nausea bothered me the most but was quickly taken care of with medication. I was able to walk around but when I did the nausea got worst. All of this was still very tolerable. I had ice chips throughout the night and had my first meal this morning at 8 am. No problem with my meal. I had a cup of chicken broth, a cup of jello, a popcicle and protien shake. I took my time and spent two hours having my meal. I was discharged and went back to my hotel room and took a nap. I spent this afternoon shopping around Union Square in San Francisco!!! I leave tomorrow to return to Hawaii. I'm not hungry and have been drinking my protein shake throughout the day. Now my real journey begins!!! Aloha Lea
