Got called fat...an NSV
Susan - thanks for the info - NSV - thats cool! I am soooooooo impatient - good grief I had to keep myself from calling the doctors office today to see if they got any info from my insurance. I noticed everyone is different in the order of how things are taken care of. I had to have all my tests done before they submitted anything to the insurance and haven't gotten a surgery date yet and then I read where others have their band date and haven't even had the pysch eval yet - I guess its all in where you live or is it the doctor? I'm just hoping that when I do get the call that my insurance has ok'd the band that they will say can you come in tomorrow.. LOL ... ok so next week. And then I'll say ... YOU BETCHA!!!

CRYING again
menopause - sorry but I couldn't help but notice your age - this happened to me a couple years ago. I went in for my "yearly" and my doc says anything going on - I burst into tears and say I can't stop crying I don't know why I'm crying...sob sob ... he pats my leg and says we'll take care of that - he gave me Effexor - I used it for a few months went off and then when I needed it again I got on it again. Right now I'm not crying and feeling pretty good. But just to get you by you might want to talk to your doctor. Ok here's another one for some of you ladies in this age bracket - my sister had a tummy tuck and it threw her right in the middle of menopause. I guess our hormones are stored in our fat soooooo ... when we start loosing weight I would assume it would be like a PMS nightmare. Anyone else have this happen to them?

Chronicles of Cloe!!!!!
Argon - no I'm not Canadian but I was raised in Northern Minnesota LOL I've lived in PA for the past 25 years and no I'm not banded YET but Dr. Kim Marley from Windber, PA will be doing my surgery. I've met him twice and he seems very kind and compasionate (cute as a button too) I've heard and read good things about him. Most people in my area go to Pittsburgh for bariatric procedures - but I feel comfortable with Dr. Marley

Chronicles of Cloe!!!!!
Sometimes its just better to be a listner then a talker. As for me I haven't been banded and other then asking a question now and then I don't really have much to add. But I do feel encouraged when I read threads. I am just getting so impatient waiting for my insurance to respond. (UPMC - anyone else have it in Central PA) I have done the whole 6 months, pysch, etc - everything is in order so now I'm biding my time by reading your posts.

I was reading these posts and wondering how spicey foods affect your stomach. Sounds like you all eat the spicy stuff.

Support Person Expectations
Sunshine I'm wondering about your shrink visit - my guy stressed the impact of how this can affect a marriage. In fact I think I'm going to start a new topic and ask how it has affected everyone. Believe me my husband is not the most open minded guy - we hardly have discussed it other then my insurance is paying for it - but I would think he's gonna catch on sooner or later.

psy eval
mine was about 15-20 minutes. He asked me what I knew.. blah blah blah .. and I shared my fear... which is if I am an emotional eater now how will I deal with that after the surgery? He told me do yoga or exercise, my daughter and I got a laugh out of that one... like me and hubby are doing bills and I get stressed so I say just wait a minute I'm going to go do some yoga or take a walk. yeah right! What really works? Oh and the main thing he was concerned about was the stress on the marriage as far as a change in body can bring on new jealousy and stuff like that.

I have finished my 6 months of dr. visits and the charts have been sent to the insurance co. for approval so I am just impatiently awaiting to hear from them. I have heard that my insurance usually ok's it. I hope to have it done before the first of the year. Its very encouraging reading everyones progress and looking at the before and after pictures.
