All my life, I pretty much maintained a steady weight, a lil chubby, but never more than 60 lbs overweight. Then in 2004, I began to steadily gain weight, although my diet had not changed. I was diagnosed with PCOS (Poly Cystic Ovary Syndrome). It causes weight gain among other things. No matter what diet I go on I couldnt mange to lose more than 20 lbs which I would gain back. Now my doctor has said that it has come to a point where I must have something done about it. He has told me all the things I am at risk for if my weight does not decrease. Cancer being a big one, especially since it runs in my family. I am being sent to a seminar about Lap-Band next month to learn more about it before I have the surgery. I am scared, but I know something has to be done.
