Nigella, let's be friends and maybe we can meet at a support group. I have a few friends in Dana Point, I spend most of my life in Laguna Beach where I went to school and work sometimes. When did you have your surgery and do you have any regrets? Thank you

Thank you everybody! There is a support group meeting once a month in UC irvine. I finally found a doctor here in Orange County, Dr. Quebbemann in Newport Beach from the N.E.W. program and they also have a support group every other Tuesday. He is going to do my surgery on May 6th. He started quoting me 18k but I was able to talk him down to 14K. I thought on going to Mexico but my husband insisted to do it close to home. I wish you all the best and I'm look forward to stay in touch. I'm a little stressed out and I may be looking for support from all of you. To imagine.dream.inspire: where in Southern Ca are you?

Nutritionist said just go without?
To find his website got to google and type: N.E.W program at Newport Beach, CA. I have been researching doctors for 6 months, let me know if I can be of any help to you. Dr. Quebbemann has a discount price now of $14,785.00. I couldn't find anything cheaper close to home but I know there are doctors in the center of the US that do it a lot cheaper.

Thank you for your input OregonDaisy. I agree with you in a long term but I wouldn't worry so much for 2 to 6 weeks after eating normal and having a lot of fat to get rid of. I did it for 45 days and it worked without making me deficient at all by doctor's recommendation. I'm glad you brought it up because I didn't mean to talk anybody into not taking their vitamins in a long term.

ANY dietitian, nutritionist, dr or ANYONE who has a clue?
Is it okay to just drink plain Kefir instead of drinking all the chemicals in the prepared drinks? Kefir is a liquid yogurt with a tons of probiotics. Do you think I'll be able to drink liquid yogurt right after surgery or it has to be liquid like water?

No problem Mini-me! I was on a medical diet where I was placed on a 500 calorie a day and taken off all my Vitamins except calcium for 45 days and I lost a pound a day. I don't have the medical reference but I have the paragraph where the doctor explained this to me. Here is the paragraph as it was given to me: Vitamins and Anemia Sooner or later most patients express a fear that they may be running out of vitamins or that the restricted diet may make them anemic. On this score the physician can confidently relieve their apprehension by explaining that every time they lose a pound of fatty tissue, which they do almost daily, only the actual fat is burned up; all the vitamins, the Proteins, the blood, and the minerals which this fat tissue contains in abundance are fed back into the body. Actually, a low blood count not due to any serious disorder of the blood forming tissues improves during treatment, and we have never encountered a significant Protein deficiency nor signs of a lack of vitamins in patients who are dieting regularly. I'm sorry not to have any more information on it. What I can say is that I did the diet and the Vitamin restriction and I lost a pound a day. After the diet I got a blood test for any deficiencies and I didn't have any. This medical diet is so hard to do because you're starving and I can't do it no more, one time is enough, then you regain the weight. That's why I'm getting sleeved.

Your fat cells are loaded with all the vitamins your body needs except calcium. Add some calcium sachets to your water or drinks and skip the vitamins. By letting your body use the vitamins stored in your fat you loose more weight. I learned this from a nutritionist that guided my weight loss last year. I stopped all vitamins except calcium for 2 months and lost a lot of weight. I hope this helps. Gloria
