  1. Had my final appt. w/Dr. Lautz this morning and things took a major major turn. Due to some esophagus problem I'm no longer a candidate for the lap band. As the band gets tighter I would may not be able to swallow. He is willing to perform a bypass and feels like I would be successful. So needless to say I'm slightly devastated by this news. I've done my research and I was all set and prepped for the band. Now I have to start this whole thing over. I'm about 80% sure that I will have the bypass because I just can't continue living with this weight. I feel like I've tired to do this on my own and I'm just not successful. I'm going to give myself the weekend to get my head right. I will make a final decision on Monday So I guess this is goodbye
  2. YaY on the first fill Jennifer! You sound like you have been doing pretty good on your on though. I can't WAIT to get this ball rolling. I have my last appt w/Dr. Lautz tomorrow. That is when he will find out that I've gained 15 pounds...so not looking forward to the side eye he is going to give me. Tiny..I love spinach but this newbie won't be putting them in her protein shakes for a long long long time. Have a great day everyone!
  3. So we are all heading into the final stretch. I'm SO nervous about the liquid diet. I truly think I'm going to starve to death. I'm setting up another appointment with the dietitian before 8/9 so I can know exactly what I can and can't have
  4. Aaaww you will be missed See you guys tonight
  5. I had a conflict but changed it so I could come. ...Can't miss a chance to talk about what is all consuming in my life these days
  6. Hey All, Thanks for checking on us Paige. Carol it's great to know that your doing well. I'm hoping that I have the same success when my time rolls around. Are you feeling any sort of restriction or your just being a good girl with the eating?
  7. Glad to hear things went well! Keep me/us posted..I wanna know exactly what I'm in for
  8. Carol, Good Luck Tomorrow!!!! Please check in and let us know how things went and how your doing.
  9. Glad your feeling better Jay. I have a question for the BWH banders. Has anyone dealt with a person named Jennifer Johnson? Is she always rude or could I have done something to piss her off? I'm seriously thinking about speaking to her manager about her attitude problem.
  10. Hi Guys! I plan on attend the next Faulkner Meeting. I missed the BWH one so I'm feeling a bit lonely support wise. Hope everyone is doing well
  11. AAAAwwwwwAAA man! I just realized I have no idea where the meeting is held. Can somebody tell me what room/floor the meeting is held?
  12. I will be there tonight...can't wait to meet everyone and please bear with all my newbie questions Genise
  13. The group was ok. They helped answer a few of my newbie questions. There was one gentleman there who is very passionate about his journey. If he reads this he may want to consider giving others a chance to get a few questions in. Other than that it was ok and I plan on returning again this month. When does the Faulkner group meet? I need all the support I can get these days
  14. I just feel like everyone is watching me now. Watching what I do, eat, say..of course this could all be in my head I can keep a secret for anybody else but when it comes to me I get diarrhea of the mouth
  15. Thank you! I'm going tonight..wish me luck
  16. I've told everyone and anyone who would listen. I really regret that decision now. I have a big mouth and can't stop talking to save my life
  17. This whole post FREAKS ME OUT. I'm terrified of starving to death during my pre-op diet. I won't start until 8/9/10 but it's all I can think about. I'm going to try a mediation technique that was recommend to me. I'm going to need all the help I can get Stay strong..the pre-op diet means your close to seeing a whole new you!
  18. I plan on attending the support group at BWH. Has anybody been? What's it like?
  19. Thank you for posting this. Very helpful information
  20. Good Luck tomorrow. Wishing you a successful surgery and speedy recovery
  21. Just wanted to say hello...My name is Genise and I will be having surgery at BWH on 8/23/10 with Dr. Lautz. I'm interested in attending the support groups because I have TON of questions. Any support for a newbie is much appreciated
  22. The only reason I'm looking forward to the summer is because it's closer to August. I can not wait for August 23rd (new surgery date). I've never had an issue showing off my thighs. My backside is the area of concern for me Let the countdown begin!
  23. My psych evaluation was a horror show. I went in with the gumdrops and rainbow attitude and left feeling defeated. Halfway through the conversation she says "you look sad and should talk to someone" I wanted to shrink up and die right then and there. She never said she wasn't going to pass me but I did get the sense she didn't like what she heard. :frown:
  24. I will be going through my insurance BCBS of MA. All my prep (GI, psych, sleep study, nutrition) is scheduled over the next two months. I see my Dr. in July and they told me the surgery will be 8/9/10. I do work within the same hospital so could that have something to do with it? I've made two phone calls but haven't received a response yet. I almost don't want to question the process, but don't want to be denied by my insurance at the last second either.
