  1. I dont really consider diabetes as something you suffer with, because you do learn to deal with it. I'm 25 and ive been type 1 diabetic since i was 12. Been taking insulin shots all my life. I think i dealt with it, the moment i was told about it. I knew i had to grow up fast. Ive a dr's appointment tomorrow to ask if im able to do lapband. I feel that it will help me with my diabetes and make me better. Losing weight and everything. I'm guessing you'll probably get type 2. From what i've learned with type 2, diet and excercise. you'll be on track. Wishing you all the best
  2. Hello all, i'm so glad i found this place. My name is Trish, and im newly 25. I've been overweight my entire life, which is weird considering i weighed 2lbs at birth. Anyways, im tired of being fat. I'm tired of working my ass off at the gym and eating right to see no results what so ever. My dr even tried putting me on phentermine. The first month i lost 9 lbs, 2nd month i lost 1 lb, and after that it seems like the pill stopped working all together. I weigh about 255. My BMI is 42. I'm seriously looking into having the lapband done. I think i've finally reached the point where im ready to have surgery. My mom had the gastric done, and is literaly half if not more the person she used to be. I've been browsing this site and looking at the before and after pics and i'm just so amazed. I guess basically what im saying is i'm ready for a change. I'm tye 1 diabetic since ive been 12, and im hypertension. I guess i'm just looking for advice and support. Anyways nice meeting you all. Trish
