  1. I'm not banded - yet, but seriously thinking about it. Going for my first consult next week. I'd love to hear about your experience so far. Congrats and good luck by the way :-)
  2. Back at chu Doddie: Thanks for your reply and I am now searching for somewhere closer to home. Obviously yours was sucessful and love to hear such good news. Where and by whom did you get your Lap-Band (if you don't mind me asking)? Congrats on your new healthy lifestyle.
  3. Well I just returned from my Doc today and it does not look good for Calgarians. Later that afternoon, I got a call from the nurse saying that Doc Mitchell no longer does the Lap-Band procedure and was referred to Ontario's Doc Coulburn (sp?). I also got a call from the Weight Mangement Centre saying that the classes were full and was told to call back in June. The nurse at the WMC told me that there is at last a 2 year waiting list for the LB procedure...........so what does a person do now? Pay privatly and head to Ontario? Be put on the waiting list just to get into the WMC? Hard to believe that after all these years, I FINALLY decide to go this route only to be slapped in the face with so many roadblocks. Shame on you Alberta Health Services!!!! :thumbdown:What about all the other people that are much larger than me and NEED this option to live? :frown: - rant over.
  4. Thanks all. First docs appt tomorrow morning to get my new lifestyle started...............yippeeee
  5. I'm a newbie too and like you, have failed at each attempt. Keep the faith and read on. I've found tons of great advise and tips here.
  6. I'm very excited to start my journey but reading through all these great reviews about this procedure, I'm a bit nervous as I have read nothing about bad experiences. Please let me know if anyone has had some issues as I want to know the good as well as the bad. Thanks to all my soon to be bandster family members.
  7. Fantistic news!! My first doc's appt is this Friday, so hopefully I'll be getting the same good news soon. Let us know how you are doing k?

  9. IHey BD: 'm fantastic!! Have my first docs appt next Friday to get this long awaited journey started. Nervous, a bit hesitant of the unknown but VERY excited to know that I'm finally going to start a healthier way of life. Why did I wait so long?????
