  1. I was banded June 6, 2011. I have lost about 40 lbs half of that I attribute to the pre op liquid diet. Being honest with myself I have not done anything that I was supposed to. To support my band I really have not been eating right or exercising, or getting my fills properly. Since this is a new year I want to make a new beginning. I want to know If I have damaged my chances of my band working properly. I have some restriction but I really can eat almost anything I want. I want to make an appt with my dr. And get a fill and get back on track. I feel ashamed that I have gone through this and am not a success. I blame myself totally and I hope I can get back on track. Please let me know if anyone has experienced this.
  2. Thanks Dave I'm going to try the 5 day test.
  3. I was banded June 6th, 2011. I have lost about 30lbs. I have no support from my husband. He brings all the bad foods into the house and if we're out on family day he always wants to go to restaurants. I am having a hard enough time trying to learn to live with the band. I have found myself eating more than I should and all the wrong foods. Drinking soda (he conveniently forgets to get me diet tea when he is purchasing soda). When I went for my last fill I gained 5 pounds. I went through this surgery to become more healthy and have a better quality of life. I don't know what to do to overcome his sabotage. Any comments or advice is appreciated.
  4. Thanks so much. I just can't wait for it to go down. Nothing worst than being able to go 1or 2 sizes down n still looking 10 mos pregnant.
  5. My dr does as well but sometimes u have to do what works for you. I don't know if I can be as organized but I'm going to try your plan. Wish me luck.
  6. I'm doing ok loosing weight but my stomach is super bloated. I don't know if it's still from the surgery or what but it's really bothering me. I was thinking perhaps because other parts of my body is getting smaller its magnifying my stomach but I actually feel bloated any suggestions are appreciated.
  7. U may want to call your surgeon. I heard surgeons have to remove it too.
  8. I also had my surgery 6/6/11. I too don't feel much restriction. I did initially had some extreme restriction but it was causing me pain. I thought omg wht have I done. But now I'm starting to understand my band and hownit is supposed to work. I am going for my first fill July 6th and I'm looking forward to it. In the mean time I Really suggest u read the book called bandwagon By Jean McMillian. I purchased it from amazon. I haven't finished the book yet and I wish I would have read this book prior to surgery. I am not affiliated with the author in anyway. I just found this book helpful. Good luck on ur journey.
  9. Hello everyone. All your posts are true. I consider myself a positive person. The cup is half full. I am trying to keep positive since surgery. I am focusing on changing my lifestyle so I can be successful. It has not been easy and what's happening is people's negative stories are making me a lil nervous. But then I remind myself why I had this surgery ( to save my life) and I have to just focus on learning how to use this tool for my benefit.
  10. I was banded June 6th and I experienced the same thing. I went to my post op visit and there was pre liquid in my band which was removed I instantly felt better. The flip side of this is I have no restriction n can eat anything. Can't wait for my first fill which is july 6 I just hope I don't go back to the spasms and back and chest pain. Good luck everyone!
  11. I had my surgery June 6th. I'm reading all these different experiences. I know so many positive stories are on here but there are also some really scary and discouraging stories. Im seriously wondering if I should stay off this board.
  12. I just purchased muscle milk light cafe latte on a whim from 7 eleven. And I loved it. I wanted to purchase more but I can't find that flavor anywhere. I have the powdered chocolate and it wasn't bad to me. I mixed it with water.
  13. I expected this to work just like previously stated. Help me to be satisfied quicker and stay satisfied longer.
  14. I am so glad for this post. I am recently banded June 6th and I have been trying to eat right. I initially had 3 cc's in my band but it was too tight with the swelling and causing me pain. I had to have the saline removed. My band is now empty. I have been going through hell trying to control myself n eat right. I managed to lose 17lbs preop and I already feel better. I an terrified to regain that weight back. I go for my first fill on July 6 I pray this works. I had this surgery to help save my life.
  15. Thanks Jennifer. Let us know how your first fill goes.
  16. Melissa thank you so much for your post. I was secretly feeling scared, discouraged, because I to am 10 days post op. Surgery was June 6th and I did have some restriction right after surgery but it was causing me severe pain when I tried to sleep. Tightness and back pain. I initially thought it was gas. But after my follow-up post op appointment my dr took the pre fluid out 3cc's I immediately felt relief. But with that removal I feel like I have no restriction. I go for my first fill July 6th. I hope it starts to work. And I'm also afraid that tightness will return. I lost 23 lbs during the pre opt liquid diet n I don't want to regain. I've been trying to be careful but... I'm just hoping this works.
  17. Lol I know it is awful. I had my band surgery on June 6th and I felt the same way. I felt more hungry after the surgery than I did prior to with the two weeks of liquids. I am now on mushies. But prior to my dr said I could have sf jello and it really did help make me feel full. Good luck and much success.
  18. Congrats I also had my surgery on June 6th. Been having some issues with pain. Well not pain But tightness, I went in today for my followup and had 3cc's of fluid removed from my band. I feel much better. I like u know this will be a bumpy road but I have no doubt I will succeed. I wish you much success.
  19. @drummer so excited for u and ur up coming surgery. It was pretty difficult for me during the 2 weeks prior (liquids). Now that I'm on the other side I will tell you this is really making me confront myself and my relationship with food. I think for me its going to be a bumpy ride but I will get there. I have decided to restart weight watchers for additional support. Good Luck! And Gods speed with your recovery. And when your feeling up to it please let me know how u are doing after surgery.
  20. Lmao@Carly I ended up having some Greek yogurt. Felt much better too.

  22. @Txnurse I was thinking the same thing about myself. I go back to the drs on 6/14 I hope I can make it til then.
  23. Making some tea right now Jack. I've been drinking tea though.
  24. 5 days and still hungry umm and GRITS sound so good right now. I think I will try some ff Greek yogurt today. I don't even feel whole right now. On another note. I had ordered a few items from Lane Bryant a size too small and it all fit and I think I may send the capris back for a smaller size. Yay!
  25. Ok I'm post opt day 5 and im still having what I thought were gas pains. The pain comes in spasms right in almost the center of my back closer to my right lower shoulder blade, also across my chest. I have not been able to sleep because as soon as I lay down it starts. I get a little relief in the mornings by drinking some hot tea. I'm starting to feel like this is never going to stop. I have tried all gas remedies to no avail. Has anyone else experienced this? It does feel like if I could get a good burp it would relieve the pressure but I can't burp. I know were not supposed to used carbonated drinks but in starting to get desperate. PLEASE HELP! With any suggestions. Thank.
