I've struggled with my weight my entire life, but especially after having two boys at age 33 and 35, my weight just kept creeping up and up year after year.  I consider myself to be a very happy and successful person with this one area of exception in my life...my weight.  Reaching an all-time high in 2007, I started looking into surgery.  I felt I should honestly be able to beat this weight issue myself by exercising self-control, but it just wasn't happening.  Finally in 2009 after receiving a big promotion and raise, and weighing in at 237 lbs., I talked to my husband about my lapband research and wish to have surgery.  He was very supportive, and we were off and running.My BMI and overall health wasn't at a point where insurance would cover the procedure, so I researched self-pay options and found Harper University Hospital online.  Their staff is wonderful and I've been very happy with my choice.  I had my surgery in October 2009, only about six weeks after first contacting them, and have lost 17 pounds to date.  I'm already feeling so much better physically and mentally, and people are definately noticing.
