  1. thanks for the reply and the support. I like what you said about not being able to believe it can happen...I think I need to work on that... I will go for my 2nd fill in a couple of weeks and maybe that will be the answer. thanks again becky
  2. another week and no weight loss...I am so discouraged and not sure what else to do. I am following the rules - do i go under 1000 calories? almost 9 weeks and the emotional roller coaster of hope and dashed hope is taking its toll on me.
  3. where are you having surgery? My advice is to listen carefully to everything and follow the rules. good luck.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

i so hear what you are saying. i am loving the fat person i am today while moving toward the true me - the slim me. i have hated myself for so many years and that did not help anything...just dug the hole deeper...so love the self into wholeness. Change is difficult no matter how much we want it. The portion idea is so true...learning what a small portion means. I do focus on hard proteins and I agree my hunger stays away longer. I do look forward to feeling energetic and alive.
  5. when did you get your band?

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

a life change for sure...i hope to get back into living life. i am keeping a journal of feelings and experiences along the way but i will consider writing down what i eat to see on paper exactly what i am eating. that is a good idea. thanks

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

thank you for the menu sample. I think I am right in there. I am choosing at this time to not eat sweets and eating plenty of protein instead. Maybe being 57 it will take me longer to increase my metabolism and hope to be able to walk more with less stress on my knee. I am also, when possible, eating organic, whole grain, nonprocessed foods. I must admit the chick strips were breaded (darn!). thanks again for the help and suggestions...nice to not feel like the Lone Ranger in Montana:smile2:

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Because of a bad knee exercise is not great. I walk when I can - 30 minutes. I eat 3 small meals a day and snack 2 times. snack example would be couple of stalks of celery and peanut butter. I am eating plenty of protein. today I ate : 1 egg, 1 piece of toast; celery & peanut butter; 2 chicken strips & 1/4 cp mashed potato; 1 cp popcorn; elk and small dinner salad. Is that too much food? I figured about 1400 calories.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Hello. it has been 8 weeks since i had surgery and have lost 7 lbs - seems slow to me. i got my first fill 1 week ago and that has helped keep hunger away for longer (3.5-4hrs). i think i may go for another fill in 1 month. but i feel so much better than before the surgery.
  10. at the 7 week mark (last week) i got my first fill. i am starting with a very small fill to avoid any of the problems of overfilling. so far it is working great. i only weigh 1x a week so i do not know yet what the loss is but i am confident there will be some. getting to this point has had some frustration and confusion. Is this right, am i doing this ok, should i be doing something else ect. ect. ect. Surgery is tough on the body and it takes time to recovery - even after you feel better the body is still recovering. This is a time to take good care of yourself and to be kind to yourself. eat slowly and in a relaxed manner. If possible serve the food on a nice plate and make it special. it is ok to take a few weeks and give yourself extra care - there is plenty of time ahead when you are feeling stronger to do for others. Protein is very important.
  11. I am not sure what is normal. Everyone seems to be a little different. I will go for fill soon and then hopefully the weight loss will speed up a bit. I think 8 lbs is great and you must be encouraged.:tongue_smilie:
