I have been overweight my entire life...going through many of the same ups and downs as the rest of us feeling less of a person because there was so much more of me. However I decided to get the lap band instead of gastric because my father had gastric and lost so much so quickly that he went crazy and that scared me. I also decided to go with the lap band because I wanted to improve my health and finally learn what it was like to be thin. I had to meet with the doctor for almost a year before my insurance would approve the proceedure, and finally I had my surgery date on March 18th, 2008...but then due to personal struggles I couldn't get my fills very often. I lost about 6 sizes since my surgery but I feel as if I haven't lost enough weight and I am rather frustrated. Now I have new insurance and they don't cover anything regarding the lapband so now I can't afford to get new fills...I'm here hoping to gain some support in my quest.
