  1. Hello all fellow bandsters. I was banded last Wednesday (hooray!) but I have had major numbness in my upper thighs since immediately after the surgery. It started with my left and then worked its way over to my right. My left cleared up after a few days but my right is still going strong. It feel like I have frostbite. It is sensitive to the touch and painful at times. It is worst when I am lying on my back. My doc thinks they might have strapped me too tightly on the table and bruised my hips. Does anyone have any other ideas?? Thanks for your help!! Kate
  2. Make sure you take care of you too! Especially if it is something that would make you feel better! I will admit that this whole pinched nerve thing is really a nuisance. ~kate
  3. They pretty much determined it was a pinched sciatic nerve. I am definitely not a doctor, but it seems possible. Ibuprofen helps quite a bit as it is an anti-inflammatory. Good luck!
  4. Hiya! My problem started with my left thigh immediately following surgery. The entire top half was totally numb with tingly almost firework type electrical charges?? (I know it's crazy but it's the only way I can explain it) I started moving over to my right leg the following day. My left outer thigh started getting better almost right away...then was almost totally normal after about the week. The right leg was a lot worse. The tingly sensation was more like painful lightening bolts and would wake me up at night. A lot of that leg has now healed. I haven't had lightening bolts for about a week now but the top right side from hip to knee is still a little numb. I am started to feel my nails a litter more each day if I try to scratch it. It's progress! Thanks for your reply!
  5. Thanks so much for your reply. I had never had surgery before and we have pretty much figured out (at least I hope) that when they blew me up with gas, it pinched my sciatic nerve. I have had about 50% recovery in my right leg, but it is still numb. I feel pressure but nothing tactile on the surface, almost like having novacaine in your mouth. It seems to be getting better a little everyday. Thanks for the tip on diabetes though...luckily I have always tested fine for that. However, diabetes was one of my reasons for having this surgery since both my parents are diabetic. Thanks again for your reply. I do appreciate it!! ~Kate

    Upper Leg Numbness

I knew I wasn't crazy! I was banded 6 days ago and have since had major numbness in both my thighs. My left has alleviated...but my right feels like it is frostbitten all the time and at it's worst when I am trying to fall asleep on my back. Please tell me this will end. My doc thinks they may have strapped me in too tight on the table.
