Has anyone had......
Well, today is day 3 of pre op diet and I feel bad again.... I have been REALLY having some cravings....I know what you mean about the pizza driver...lol I am having headaches and general lack of energy....I want to moan and cry but I'm trying not too. I am trying to tell myself that this is just a big part of getting ready for the surgery....shrinking my liver. I want my surgeon to have the room that is needed for the band to be placed.... I am trying to keep an upbeat attitude and not scream at anyone....but I really just want to sleep..... I've slept a lot today and I just had dinner. Gonna go take a shower and get ready for bed....I hope this passes or if it doesn't I hope that my higher power can keep me strong...I am resisting the cravings cause "cheating" is just not an option.... Take Care, Meg

Has anyone had......
Thanks for all the responses and support. This site is just fantastic. I am feeling much better today and I am not having very many cravings. I do get a twinge when I ride by a fast food place but after about 3 seconds the twinge is gone. I am happy to report a loss of 15 pounds so far....Mind you, I started reducing everything before pre op diet. I don't have as much energy as I would like but I imagine that will improve shortly. I am amazed that since 2 days on pre op diet, a protein shake satisfies me....and my 1 sensible meal a day ( 4 ounces of lean meat and 1/2 cup of green veggies )satisfies me as well....that right there is nothing short of a miracle. I know I can do this... I have thought of something and its very true for me.... Food cravings will pass weather you indulge or not..... I choose to live today and I choose health Take Care all, Meg

I choose to live, Meg:thumbup:

March 24th is the day!
Hey Jacquie and Darkangel.... I live in Clearwater, Florida. I am feeling like crap today...ugh!! I have been doing well until today, I have gotten everything out of my fridge and pantry and have nothing to eat but Protein and yogurt and lean meats, eggbeaters, a few veggies and Water. Since I have reduced everything I am starting to feel extremely grumpy and agitated and a bit "low"... I know this will pass in a few days ( i hope ) and I know the reasons to "not cheat"....and I'm not. But I just feel miserable...I hope you both are doing well. I'm still excited and looking forward to March 24th. This is just a temporary situation I am in now... and I really have no one to blame but myself for getting to this point. More than anything, I WANT TO BE HEALTHY!!! I'm sorry for complaining...its just different feelings right now...Looking forward to tomorrow to see Doctor and New Therapist....Hoping all will go well with results from pre op tests. HUGS TO YOU BOTH!!! Take Care, Meg

Nervous Wreck!
Hi.... Sorry you are a nervous wreck. I was too, but I did a lot of research and have talked to several people who are on this journey as well. That eased my mind a bit. I also have complete confidence in my surgeon and feel at great ease with her and her staff. I have been told I can not lift anything heavier than a gallon of milk for a month. I don't want to do any damage while my stomach is healing.....I 'm having the surgery a day after you. If you haven't done a lot of research or attended any support groups, doing that may ease your mind. I have no children so I can not answer that for you.... Take Care and Best of luck to you... Meg

Has anyone had......
Hi all... I have a question for those that have gone before me... Did any of you experience agitation, headaches, mood swings, lite depression, or any other strange symptoms while doing the pre op diet? I am just not feeling like myself. I am feeling all of those things and some anxiety....sometimes, I have to bite my tongue so I don't say something to hurt someones feelings. This is not me....I am usually very nice, outgoing and upbeat but the last 24 hours I feel like screaming..... Should I call my surgeon? My doc? or is this "normal".... Thanks, Meg

March 6....18 days to go!!
I can't believe that in 18 days I will have a toll to help live a better and healthier life. I have so many dreams....things I want to do in my new life. I want to be healthy and have a healthy relationship with food. For the last week or so, I've been doing really well. I haven't even started my preop diet yet and I am down 12 pounds. For me, that is wonderful.:tt1: I am very proud of myself. It's not easy, especially with Beth having all of the Mountain Dew in the fridge, but I know that I can't have even one sip, It would be detrimental to my health at this point. Probably because then I would want a whole one.... My body is feeling better in some ways as well. I seem to have a bit more energy and not needing to nap everyday like I used to. I am a bit nervous about seeing my doctor on Monday. I find out my test results and find out if I will be cleared for surgery.....gosh I hope so. I can't wait for the day when I can walk one whole mile and not want to die on the sidewalk. I want so badly to enjoy nature, my dog, my wife, my life. Sometimes I sit and cry because I am 40 and feel as if I have wasted so much time...I want to enjoy the rest of my time on this earth...I want to live life to the fullest. God, Buddah,....Please help me. Give me the strength and courage to do what I need to do for my health today.... Thank You!!!!

March 24th is the day!
Ok you guys....18 days and counting. Looking forward to pre op diet because it will be official then!!! I seem y doc on Monday to go over the pre op test results and I've been stressing about them a bit. I have really been taking care of my "head hunger" and dealing with it...i've been of soda, sugar, bread, walking more and drinking plenty of water and I'm already down my required 12 lbs...BEFORE PRE OP DIET!!!!! Funny how much better I already feel. I used to take a nap everyday because I was always so tired but now, I have more energy and don't nap. I wonder if it has anything to do with much fewer carbs??? Monday, I also see my new therapist for the first time. She has worked with bariatric patients before and I want everyone on TEAM MEG I can get....I went to a support group thursday night, talked to many people and got phone numbers...So, are the rest of you all excited??? What's going on with you guys?? Take Care, Meg:biggrin:

Twoderville and Onederville seem far away....
Thank you both so much. On my ticker shows my goal weight from my surgeon...150. I would be happy at 200-215. If the scale EVER says 199 or less....I am really going to cry...with happiness. I know many people do it. I am so committed and dedicated..... This is just going to be wild.....:wink2: Meg

Twoderville and Onederville seem far away....
I am pre band. If all goes well I will be banded on 3-24!! Twoderville and Onederville seeem like only a dream to me....Especially Onederville. I haven't weighed under 200 since high school...I am 40. Anyone else feel like its a dream? They say to dream the impossible ..... I know these are realities for many, losing that much weight over time but wow...it blows my mind to even THINK it could happen for me.... Take Care, Meg

Spring into March 2010 Bandsters
Hi yall.... I am ( hopefully ) a March 10 bandster as well. I am Meg and I'm 40 in Florida. I have been obese or overweight all my life. I am very excited to be on this journey. I feel very fortunate to be given this chance for a healthier life. I know there is lots of work to be done on my part and I am willing to do it all.... I went to the seminar on 1-4-10. Got all of my medical paperwork into surgeons office and had consult appointment on 2-15-10 I have seen and passed the psych evaluation. I start my pre op OFFICAILLY on 3-10 but have started changing things now. I have lost 9 pounds in the last week. I am required to lose 12, but I have a feeling it will be more than that that I lose:smile2:. I have my appointment for testing this coming Tuesday 3-2-10 and see my regular doctor 3-8-10 to see if more tests are needed and / or to get clearance for surgery. My surgery date is scheduled for 3-24-10. I am going to attend all support groups and got a name for a therapist that works with bariatric patients. I will be calling her on Monday to see about working with her. I have met a couple of people online and in person that I talk to often. I read everything I can get my hands on about correct foods and exercise. I am ready to "do this right" and start taking much better care of myself. I have started to do that and I already feel like I have a bit more energy and a better outlook on life. Funny how exercise can REALLY make you feel better.....lol. My concerns right now are the slow drinking. When I walk or exercise at all I am a gulper of water. I hope to get to know all of you better and hope you're all doing well. Take Care, Meg Surgeon: Dr. Tiffany Jessee Hospital: Palms of Passedena St Petersburg, Florida

My response
Ruthie, That was a beautifully written letter. I also agree that you need not justify your decision. The letter is honest and insightful. It was a pleasure to read and resonated with me as well. Take Care, Meg

Was wondering if any of you have done a PRE pre op diet??? Started before you were supposed to??? I have been doing this. My pre op doesn't OFFICIALLY start until 3/10 but I started changing my diet and drinking 1 protein shake a day. I have also given up soda completely and have been walking more.....I am drinking only water and today I walked a whole mile....in spurts, but I did it:thumbup: I am happy to report a loss of 9 pounds already.... Anyone else do or doing this???? Meg
