  1. It mostly depends on your age and the luck of genetics (also the way your fat is distributed) In my mid thirties, I lost over 150 lbs and had very little loose skin. (meaning it wasn't quite as tight as it used to be, but there was no sagging whatsoever). Now, the second time around (I was banded January 27), who knows? I'm a little older and my skin has been stretched too many times. One thing I know for sure, excercise will not help with lax skin. But barring cosmetic surgery, (which can leave hideous scars, which also happed to me too ) there are some procedures that can help with minor sagging such as the Titan laser or Thermage. Even lotions that help boost the collegen and elastin in your skin can help a little. Just my two cents... good luck everybody
  2. I'm 12 days out now. Gas pain is gone!!! Now my biggest problem is that my incisions are itching like crazy! uggg! But I guess if that's my worst problem, it's not too bad. My Dr. pulled a bait and switch on me... before the surgery he said one week of liquids then pureed foods the second week. Now he's changed his recommendation to TWO weeks of liquid. I could have killed him. I'm definitely starting to get my appetite back and am counting the days til I can start eating puree. BUT I am down 14 lbs since surgery (66 altogether) so at least I'm thankful for that.
  3. I was banded last Wednesday too!! I guess I'm lucky I never got the shoulder pain, but I sure did / do have horrible gas. My stomach was so swollen the first couple of days it was ridiculous. I'm starting to feel better now, and I'm counting the days til I can eat food again!! ( the good news is I've lost 11 lbs since the day before my surgery!)

    Pureed Foods

    I'm not yet a week post-op but I can't wait to eat some hummus!!
  5. I can definitely relate to this. I chose to only tell a very few close people about the surgery, and even then I had to deal with a lot of negativity. As it happens, all of my family members and close friends are thin and have never had a weight problem. There is no possible way they can understand... It was frustrating but I laid down my boundaries and told them I would appreciate their support but I wasn't interested in their opinion. ( I said it in a nice way) Ultimately they have all come around and have been very supportive. As for everyone else, my healthcare decisions are none of their business!
  6. This is why I appreciate this forum. All the Drs. and the literature they gave me said nothing about the crazy gas I would experience post-op! Good to know it's not just me:smile2: (I was banded less than a week ago!)
