  1. Hi Viv, I buy it pre-mixed and ground from the local supermarket. The brand is Woolworths Naytura but thats in Australia im not sure if its the same there? If you like the antioxidants in blueberries, have you tried Goji berries? Goji Berries | Goji Antioxidants | Goji Health food and disease prevention check out the chart it compares the goji berries to other foods including blueberries. When i buy them i usually put them in cereal yum yum!
  2. very cool! thanks so much... it is delicious! I thought it was healthy enough but didnt know much about the fats as i know nuts contain. thanks again
  3. I am just wondering if these nuts are ok the bulk up smoothies or cereal? I have a very delicious mix of LSA which has the consistancy of breadcrumbs as they are all crushed, but tastes SO nice when mixed in smoothies like banana or sprinkled on all-bran. It tends to bulk up the meal and add a sweeter taste, but i dont know much about the nutritional value, can anyone help me with this? thanks :scared2:
  4. I can definately agree with the crying, i suffer from mental illness since a child, and i can determine the differences in sadness.. i know it sounds stupid but i always get very down after or during any sickness or surgery, i cant explain why... not from the pain but mentally just very low... i do try and think positive and havnt let it get the better of me this time but came very very close. I am 1 week post op today hoorah. still sore in the larger incision, but managed to sleep somewhat on my tummy last night so felt alot better this morning. back at work today also, i am tired and exhausted but glad to be going back to normal everyday routine instead of doing nothing! i dont know about the gas that is really painful, but its just annoying, feeling like burping, but opening my mouth only to hiccup kinda and inhale instead! i managed also today to lift some kind of heavy-ish thing and didnt hurt my tum so must be healing ok! definately waiting to be "normal" again though!
  5. i did 3 and a half weeks... dont be too worried... i was sooo ready to have WLS so i found it easier than anything else to stick to because i knew the purpose. it does kinda suck if you are around alot of social events and friends tend to forget how strict you try to be hehe.. i discovered a few things when on Opti and am still discovering... google Optifast variations and it will give you some helpful hits but i found adding flavoured essence to the shakes was nice - orange essence to chocolate shake, coconut essence to vanilla shake etc.. i dunno how you feel but to restrict fruit and vege to me doesnt sound right, so i ate them at my own judgement, just didnt have too much fruit due to the sugar content, but vege everyday and snacked on baby tomatos, carrots, cellery, raddish,... just anything i could easily shove in my mouth to avoid eating other bad stuff  i managed to lose 11kg so that kinda says what i did was ok?? hehe anyway good luck!
  6. thanks for the welcome Dawn, you look great and congrats!! im finding this place very resourceful already
  7. thank you  to be honest im ready to do anything i am bored outa my brain!! i know ill be sooo tired/exhausted after work on Monday but i think im ready to begin some kind of normal. are you on the pre op diet at the moment? where abouts in oz are ya? im going ok on the liquid diet so far... usually i have an Optifast, sustagen and some prune juice or vege juice or chicken broth and constantly sipping Water throughout the day. i dont think im really hungry but when my housemate makes lunch or dinner i crave the food hehe
  8. I am also thinking on Monday, when i go back to work and things start going back to normal I also will start feeling normal... ish! things affecting me right now would be internally - the gas - have tried de-gas but think i will look for something else as these dont appear to be helping much. other than that i feel good on the "inside." The surgical sites seem o.k other than the larger one close to my belly button. (is this where my port could be?) I think i was too doped up to remember when the Dr told me... its also yellowish bruise like colour and slightly numb feeling so just waiting for that to heal or til i see the dr on Tuesday to suss that out. sleeping is pretty uncomfortable, SO SICK OF SLEEPING ON MY BACK!!!! just want to roll over and get comfy! sleeping on my side is ok with a pillow but still not great. Mentally - "blergh" would decribe that... *sigh* but thanks everyone the more i read the better i feel
  9. totally me (except I am getting a bit of pain from the incisions) I was banded on monday (1st feb) and also feel pretty "blah" and wondering if I am actually hungry or not
  10. Hi everyone, i posted this in the general introductions but Majj pointed the Aussie thread out to me so i figured i would post here too... I have been floating around the site for a while and thought it was about time to introduce myself. I am Carissa... 22 from Perth, Australia. I had my LAP-BAND® op on Monday 1st Feb 2010 so am currently 6 days post op. I managed to lose 11kgs in the pre-op Optifast diet for 3 weeks and to admit, it was the easiest 11kg i have ever lost. I was hungry, tired and grumpy yes, but knowing i was doing it for the operation made it so much easier. I started at 150kg, and at the time of the op 6 days ago I was 139kg. I'm not sure what i would be today but i see my doctor on the 9th for the first checkup so hopefully i can weigh in then. I have really just been sleeping since I came home on Tuesday. moving about a little bit but mostly sleeping! A friend of mine suggested to place a pillow on my side and try sleeping like that - and im glad she did, soo much easier to rest. My incisions seems to be ok, although there is a yellow-ish bruise-like colouring on the larger incision, but reading around i see this is normal (??) I go back to work on Monday - have found out some of my superiors opened their mouth so not very happy about that, i told only certain people for a reason! Well I continue to enjoy weaving my way through this site, plenty of info and general chit chat, nice to know we are not alone
  11. Thanks Nene... note more pillows on order, stat! Majj thanks for reminding me of the Aussie pages... will have to go and say hello down there too. On a side note... I ♥ De-Gas! suffering badly tonight.
