I've been through just about every diet you can name (Atkins, Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, etc) and it was always a case of losing 15 or 20 pounds and then gaining it all back again. My older sister is significantly overweight and was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and last year I discovered that I had high blood pressure. So for me the decision was based 75% on health and 25% on how terrible I looked.
