  1. I am considering going to the clinic called Haven in Dublin, Ireland to get a gastric band and would like to know other people's experiences who have had this procedure in this clinic and more importantly what they felt about the aftercare service.
  2. hi bobobaldy, thanks for your reply. i went for a defill on thursday night as i was at the end of my tether. the nurse said if i had left it one more day i would have been in hospital. the whole week was such an awful experience but at least i can drink fluids again and manage a few tucs.my feet are also warm again which is a blessing. it was only my third fill and one ml but the nurse said i am highely unlikely to go above 6ml.i will wait a few months before i even think about getting half a ml in. i was also thinking it mightbe a good idea to get an xray done just to check i havent done any permanent damaage. is there anyone recommend somewhere in ireland or do i go through my gp. thanks geri:blush:
  3. Hi guys Its been awhile since my last post. My query is I got a 1 mil fill in Dublin this day last week which brought me up to 6 mils but this past week I have been unable to tolerate liquids or food. I have been barfing constantly and at times I vomited black mucus. My question is : Is this an overfill? And after a certain period of time will an overfill correct itself? This morning was the first day that I have been able to keep down a cup of tea. I dont really want to go for an unfill unless absolutely necessary but cannot live like this for much longer. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Does anyone know if you go to the nurse in Dublin does she always take out 2 mil or can you ask her to take out just half a mil??? Thanks Geri11
  4. hi maree,

i am at the i can eat anything i want except for bread, thats a no no for me. i always felt maree and still do that it is a matter of hitting your fill spot.i had 3mls in first fill getting 2mls in second and after that i hope not to be too far away from restriction.am glad to hear you are doing so well my mobile is 0879181907 if you ever want to have a chat. the forum has gone very quiet which is a shame but i think everyone kind of does their own thing at the end of the day.

  13. hi wtg, its important to remember that you and your partner are in a state of deep shock right now, so give yourselves time to absorb the news and as freckles says go to your gp and get confirmation one way or another.you have got big decisions ahead and its still early days so try and be gentle to yourself. use whatever support you can and know that we are all wishing the very best for you and yours. if there is anything we can do just shout. geri
  14. no you didnt upset me.its just when the weight loss comes to such a sudden stop that freaks me out!!!!!!!!!!why wouldnt you be allowed a fill if you feel ready for it?congrats on quitting smoking how long now are you off them?thats still another mountain i have to climb geri
  15. hi kerry, i am from ireland too and have my procduere booked for tuesday week. well done on your weight loss but its a bummer its slowed. can i ask where you have decided to get your fills done and do you have to wait five weeks for your first fill or was that your choice as maybe your body dosent feel ready for it yet?its a disaster with the flights been cancelled i hope its sorted before i have to head off take care geri:mellow:
  16. hi weightogo, god am not sure how i feel reading your post, very honest but knid of unexpected. do you feel you would be ready for your fill now?instead of having to wait another three weeks. you seem to have healed well so would your body be ready?when i went for a consult with another surgeon he does the first fill after ten days with all his clients. i do think we wait too long for the fills and that can be a bummer. what are other bandsters opinons on this? geri:thumbup: ps keep the faith you are doing really well

    Hi from Ireland!

hi maree, you are doing so well, fair play to you!!!!!!!!the not smoking thing didnt work today but have cut down well, i think i just get nervous every time i think of whats ahead of me. with regards the diet i am sticking to low cal and healthy foods. it will be tough enough doing the liquid diet when i have to. you ought to get one of those ticker things put on your profile just so you can track how well you are doing. thanks for the tip about the trousers i will add that to my list. am starting my milk thistle tablets tomorrow to detoxify my liver.its great talking to another irish woman up mna na eireann!!!!!!!!! geri
