I have always been overweight, but never "obese" until after I was married.  I lost about 70 lbs and then got pregnant and had a baby in September 2008 (gaining about half of the weight back).  Since then, I have not been able to lose the weight regardless of how much I exercise or what I eat.  My mom is diabetic, and has vision problems, neuropathy, kidney failure leading to dialysis and just recently a kidney transplant.  I do not want to have to deal with all of the problems and sicknesses she has endured.   I made the decision about 4 months ago to get the lap band after I saw how great it was for a couple of my friends.  I am SO excited to start this new part of my life.
