Hi Everyone!I am new to this forum. I am looking for some assistance with making the decision to undergo the LapBand procedure. I am 34 years old and I have been overweight my entire life. I have tried so many diet programs - from Atkins to South Beach to Weight Watchers - and I still am heavy. Prior to my wedding in 2003, I lost 50lbs. through the Atkins diet. Immediately after the wedding, I saw my weight increase. Slowly, but surely, I gained 70lbs since my wedding in May 2003. Last week, while visiting my in-laws in NY, my mother-in-law noticed that my feet and ankles were starting to swell. I didn't want to tell her this, but I have been experiencing this swelling for a few months now. I swell every day - with the afternoon and evening being the worst times of day. I have a history of cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, and diabetes in my family. I have high blood pressure (on medication for it) and am now seeing that I have a hard time breathing some times. I am scared that my cardiovascular health is quickly heading toward a place where I will not be able to recover.Hence, I have decided to seriously weigh my options for weight loss. I have tried in the past and have not been successful on my own. I need help! I have an appointment with my Primary Care Physician on Thursday (January 7, 2010) and I am looking forward to turning my life around. Looking forward to chatting with you all and hearing about your journeys.Vickie
