I've been battling with my weight all my life. I've been on every diet you could possibly imagine since I was very young, (I'm talking 8-9). Nothing every seemed to work the way I planned. It would be really easy to blame my family, they are all overweight too, as are most of my friends. About a year ago, my dad got on this HUGE health kick. He started working out at the Y every day and only eating protein shakes, never any real food. He did lose a ton of weight, but not the healthy way. Once he dropped all his extra lbs, everything became about weight. Frankly it was embarrassing.... my own father was more or less calling me fat every time I saw him. That's what made me start thinking about alternate ways of losing the weight. A few of my friends have had bypass, and one of them even had the Roux En-Y or however it's spelled, and one friend of the family had the Lap Band. I saw what amazing results she had with it and I wanted it too. I kinda jumped into it blindly. One day it was just an idea and the next week I was getting all my testing done. I finally got the surgery done Dec 14, 2009. I was ok for the first few hours after surgery but then things went down hill. Turns out too much air was trapped in my belly after surgery and OMG did it ever hurt!!! I usually have a pretty high pain tolerance but this was like nothing I have ever felt. I think my head actually spun when I was waiting on pain meds. But things got better wed morning and now I'm on my own couch which is a nice change. I look forward to reading everyones' blogs and sharing my progress with you. I wish you all the best!-FF Stamper
