My journey has been a bumpy road. It began back in 2005 to have Lap Band surgery. During my pre surgery requirements, the company I worked for changed benefits it was no longer covered. Jan 2009 my husband added me to his insurance. I called the insurance in Feb and it was a covered benefit. I didn't know if they would approve me not having a reason besides I was fat to have it done. I knew they would need me to have a complete physical so I made and appointment with my doctor. March 6,2009 she diagnosed me with diabetes and I had requested to be tested for PCOS. She wasn't concerned about the PCOS since I thoughtI had it from looking at the symptoms online. March 12, 2009 I went back to the doctor for a sonogram on my ovaries and uterus. I was told my labs came back positive for the PCOS and the sonogram showed my uterus was 3 times the thickness it should have been. She performed a biopsy that day in the office. March 17, 2009 my doctor called me at 6pm to let me know I had uterine CANCER!!!  I went to see Dr Kim on March 18 2009. Dr Kim said my weight (312lbs) was a major factor of the cancer coming on at such an early age (38). I was bound and determined Lap Band surgery was going to happen this time. On May 18, 2009 I had a total hysterectomy. All went fine, they got all the cancer and no radiation or chemo was needed. During my recovery time the insurance processor at Dr Kim's office called with the greatest news. My insurance company agreed to cover my surgery 100%. We then set my surgery for Aug 3,2009 at Forest Park Medical Ctr in Dallas. While on the table I had a hernia in my diaphragm (unaware of) that Dr Kim fixed while in there. My first month I had a lot of ups and downs. I think its because I had 2 major surgeries back to back. I had my first band fill on Oct 9, 2009. My friend loves to have her band filled, I hated it. It reminded me of how I felt after surgery. Not being able to eat just drinking shakes and eating baby food. I'm over that now. Currently as of Nov 28,2009 I'm (254lbs). I've lost 58 lbs yea :)  I know I have a long way to go to reach my goal. Don't loose hope on your journey, thank positive. Thanks to my doctors and insurance company its a blessing I will survive !      Below: Before-Me in Chicago July 2009 312lbs  After- Me in backyard Nov 28,2009 254 lbs
