Waiting and Worried!
I had a medical review and I got approval. I think its a good thing. I have First Choice through Washington Teamsters and was supposed to have 12 months medically supervised diet and exercise and I was never asked to show it. I had about 6 months in and had been dieting and exercising for ever but nothing that showed I went in once a month for that reason when I started the process. I was going in once a month as I was having my letters written and getting my testing done. I fully expected to have to appeal and I didn't. Sometimes they surprise you! Good Luck!

January Bandsters???
My hunger has just kicked in, 17 days post op. I make sure to get my water in . About 10 days post op I felt alive again. I had surgery on Friday, went to work on Monday and was in a fog until day 10. I cried and was a mess for a few mornings. I should have taken some time off. I was just frustrated that I had no energy. Thank goodness a good friend had gone through it and promised me it would pass. It did. Between the surgery and the lack of food I was a mess. I wasn't very good about my protein or water then, I just wasn't hungry or thirsty. I feel 100% now.

January Bandsters???
I expected it after surgery but I thought I would be done with it by now. I guess I had better get some gasx to carry with me.

January Bandsters???
What is the deal with the gas? Will it ever end completely? I am 17 days out and I still struggle with it. Seems I am always burping and have alot of bubbling going on? Is everyone doing the same?

January Bandsters???
Ok and that has happened to me 2 times this week. Had I not known what it was I would have died. I popped a piece of chicken in my mouth, forgot about the band, forgot to chew and OH MY GOD, I thought I was going to die! CHEW, CHEW, CHEW. Scary stuff. I got over it and it went down in about 4 minutes but it was the longest 4 minutes of my life

January Bandsters???
I am glad someone told you that. That just reminded me of when the anesthesiologist came in and asked if I had had anything by mouth and I said no, oh gum and he said did you swallow it? I said no, and he said good, cause you wouldn't be getting the surgery if you had! It would have been nice had someone told me no gum. I would have flipped out had they told me, sorry, no lapband for you!

January Bandsters???
I noticed how quiet the board got after cindy posted and while I agree with everything she said we didn't get to this place because we have a "healthy" relationship with food. I am following all of my doctors orders but I pushed a few things a little tiny bit. I ate a day early maybe or ate mush instead of puree, not sure what the difference is, to tell you the truth. But I know, for me, that this is going to be a trial and error process. I am not going to get banded and expect to not make mistakes. I am not going into the band with the intention of making mistakes but I am human. Some people have not had the education from dieticians that I received. I am amazed at how many people are banded that truly have no clue what they got themselves into. Some people will NOT follow the rules, ever. They will also be the ones that wonder why the band has failed them. But I hope I learn something from you guys and I hope you learn something from me and I hope that when I blow it there is someone here to slap me back into shape!

January Bandsters???
I have been horrible with my water and when I started drinking it I was all gassed up again! So I had an email lesson (with my friend who was banded 18 months ago) on how to sip the stupid stuff! I was in so much pain. I think I may have figured out how not to suck in all the air that I was sucking in cause it's better today. Man, talk about pain!

oh, yes it's totally normal!!!

Banded Yesterday-Need Advice
I suggest gas-x, gas-x and more gas-x. It is painful! I used a heating pad, not sure if that helped the gas but it made me feel better and I would suggest a mild laxative like shutuplena suggests, I had ISSUES with constipation. NOT FUN! Good Luck!

Already discouraged!
I know travelbug, I feel the same way you do and I keep hearing the same thing. I didn't gain when I started mushies but I wasn't on liquids as long either. Be patient. Our bodies are in shock, they aren't sure whats going on. Are you starving me? are you feeding me? It will come. I think so many of us are used to having the scale do this to us in our dieting lives that we get that same feeling when we see it happening with the band. BUt I can relate. I am doing the same thing you are. I just told my girfriend that was banded 18 months ago that I will be pissed if I don't lose between now and my fill, a month from now!

January Bandsters???
I was banded on the 12th and I am starting to feel the twinges of hunger too. My doctor wants me eating 6 times a day and I don't, but I may if I need to. I also make sure I drink lots, that seems to help with the hunger. I wish I had gotten the protein powder to add to soups and stuff because I didn't get enough protein in and I felt really weak. Today is my best day so far, energy wise. So I would day make sure you get your protein in and your water. Good Luck!

January Bandsters???
I had a really hard time with it too. I tried not to think about it. And trust me, by the time you go into surgery you don't care. At least I didn't. I am not sure I knew my name after the 1st dose of whatever it was!
