  1. I agree with all of you. I had to have 8 cc taken out of my band (I had 9 cc in it) and wait two weeks for the swelling to go down before I could get some put back in. I now have 7 1/2 cc back in and I seem to be better but I really don't feel the restriction I think I should. I might go back to ask for another small fill. Maybe just 1/4 cc
  2. Wow it took me 5 fills before he put in 9cc in my band. I am just now feeling some restriction and I like it. However, I can chew chicken and solid food and eat it. Sometimes I get burning if I eat too fast or not chew good enough, but it goes away in awhile. Good for you, use your band to help you, Becky
  3. I too had slow fills. I am now at 9 cc's in a 13 cc band. The last fill was on Monday. I now feel some restriction for the first time. I tried to eat a flour tortilla tonight with some chicken and I felt burning, needless to say I took the tortilla off and continued to just eat the chicken with some avocado. That went down well and I did OK. I too love this band even though it seems to have taken me awhile to get here. Thank you everyone for your posts, they help. Becky
  4. Do not wait to call your surgeon. This does not sound normal and you should be able to drink liquids. Please call without waiting too long. You need to have some liquids and nourishment.
  5. I was told I had a 13 cc band and now I have 9 cc's in it and hope to feel restriction at this time. I just had it yesterday so I don't know yet. I too hope to reach my sweet spot and worry sometimes that it will never happen. I have been hungry also but not all the time. I was told when you know you have had enough then you just can't eat one more bite. That has never happened for me. I hope this 9 cc helps now. I don't go back for another month. I was banded Oct 21st and have lost obver 35 pounds so far. I gained 2 pounds at Christmas but have that and more off now. Sometimes I feel like it's just because I have will power right now. I know I can't eat soft bread or rice though. Good luck to everyone. We are on this journey together, Becky
  6. I was banded on Oct 21st 2009 and I do not feel restriction yet either. At first right after a fill I will feel tighter but then it wears off. I go in tomorrow for another fill so I hope it helps. I am going on will power also, but want the band to help more. I gained a couple of pounds at Christmas because I ate the wrong things however, I have that off now and think I am doing OK. I am not counting calories and think I should do it so I know what I am eating a day. I think you are doing very well with as much weight off that you have so far. Keep up the good work.
  7. You are so right. The band is not magic. I have been making wrong choices since Christmas Eve. I found that I can eat sweets, pretzels, and even chips. I am not at my good restriction yet and have to go back to the Dr. on Monday and I'm scared to go face the "music" but I know I have to. I am thankful for all of the posts here and makes me realize that I'm not alone. Thank you all!
  8. I have had 3 fills and am at 8 cc now and still I think I can eat too much. However today I think I ate too fast or something, got heartburn and it lasted awhile and I didn't want to continue to eat. Then tonight I was able to eat a whole bowl of chili. How do you know when you are filled the right amount? Becky
  9. I think that my band is tighter in the morning also. I usually don't eat breakfast though and wait until lunch. Today I went out and had some diced chicken and salsa and ordered some refried beans to go with it. While eating I suddenly got heart burn and I don't know if I got stuck or just ate too fast. This has never happened before. I couldn't eat anymore and just waited awhile and it went away. I do not feel like I am full very fast usually and also feel like I can eat too much. I have 8 cc's in my band now and have another fill in the New Year. How do you know when you are at the right spot? Becky
  10. Do NOT listen to your mother, mine can push my buttons also but she doesn't mean to. She loves me and knows I have struggled my whole life with weight problems. Of course everything the family does together centers around food and they are all good cooks. I have lost about 30 pounds but did gain one week also, it can also be water weight. I am not good at exercising, I was in the pool at the gym and had a panic attack and didn't know why so haven't been back. I plan to with a friend as soon as she joins with me. Keep a positive attitude, you can do it and when you get some restriction, it will get better and help you loose. Remember this is just a tool and we have to help it along. You can still make bad choices if you want to, but it won't help to lose the weight. Hang in there you can do it! Becky
  11. Hi my name is Becky, I was supposed to be banded on Oct 20th but my potassium was too low so they kept me overnight to raise it up and did the surgery the next day on the 21st. I also have felt no restriction but this am got full really fast and couldn't eat another bite. However the rest of the day went fine. I also am worried about food getting stuck. I can still eat most anything but only tried 1/2 hot bun once with a hot dog on it. I can eat a corn tortilla as long as it is crisp, haven't tried rice or soft tortillas. I can also eat beef if it is shredded. I also eat lettuce, I missed it too much. Good luck and keep up the good work. I am proud of all of us for taking the big giant step to get health. Becky
  12. Hi, my name is Becky and I was also banded on Oct. on the 21st. I didn't feel any restriction either until this morning. I had my 3rd fill yesterday and have 8 cc in the Realize Band. I am nervous about getting food stuck, I don't really want that to happen. I mentioned that to my surgeon and he said "good then you will be careful", Ugh. I also have been using willpower but hope to get some help from the band some day. Becky
  13. Hi my name is Becky. I was banded on Oct 21st. I have lost 28 1/2 pounds so far. I have lost about 60 something alltogether from my highest weight. I have had fills 3 times the first 6 cc's the second 1 cc and the last time just yesterday another 1cc. Just today I felt like I couldn't eat another bite after Breakfast and I didn't eat much, lunch was just a little also, but dinner was one tostada with quite a bit of chopped lettuce. I am full but didn't get that stuffed feeling like I did at breakfast. I read that some people are tighter in the morning so maybe that is what happened this morning. Good work for you and keep it up you will get there, Becky
  14. I have also found that ground up almonds would work too, becky
  15. I am about 3.5 weeks post op. I had surgery on Oct 21st. I go in this Monday, November 16th for my first fill. I am nervous because I think this is too early, it will only be a little over 4 weeks and I am wondering if that is too soon. However, I know I have been eating more lately, not bad stuff, but more so I guess I'm glad that it will be Monday. I am a little worried about how it will feel after the fill and if I can eat anything. I am worried about food getting stuck or coming back up. So far it hasn't happened which is nice. Good Luck to you, your Doctor must have a reason.
