    2nd fill

I had my second fill yesterday, my surgury was October 28th and on my first fill I received 3.2 cc's. Yesterday I received another 1.5 cc's. On my first fill there was little restriction, I could eat about anything and only a couple of things gave me problems. Now I can barely finish an 8 oz protein shake, I am on liquids today and back to mushy tomorrow and then solids. My doctor recommended a shimp fork to help me not eat so fast and to remind me to chew food. I am part of a band study, so my fills have been pretty close to my surgury

Had my second fill yesterday and he was very cool, he wanted to know all about how I was feeling and if there was any problems. I have lost about 22 pounds now. I am feeling great. The second adjustment has been a little hard, but this is only my second day...
  3. You have to bear in mind that every "Body" is different. When you had the surgery, they placed the band. The band is not filled and you should not feel any restriction, therefore your stomach is still the same size as before you had surgery. Many people who have lost weight right after surgery are showing signs of "Lifestyle" change, thus changing their diet, their eating habits, portion size, etc. It could be any combination of things that changed your life since your surgery. Don't worry because you have not lost a lot of weight, I myself was very disappointed with myself because I thought that the weight would just start shedding off. However when I went for my first fill yesterday (Banded 10/28/09) I had lost 20 pounds and I had lost inches all over. I can now wear my old engagement ring, because my hands are slimming down. There will just be slight changes, don't expect to move mountains in the beginning. Just concentrate on the ant hills and you will be on top of the mountain before you know it.... Good Luck, and don't give up !!!!

    List of October Bansters

I thought it was a little soon myself for a fill, but the DR said I was progressing nicely. Another thing that makes a huge factor is the distance, I have to drive for 2 hours to get to the hospital. It was really cool when they let me do my post-op interview over the phone. With the chest pain I did not feel like driving. Couple of things I have noticed though. Today I am sick to my stomach, and I am trying to get a protein shake down (Liquids after fill) and my hands are shaking. Not noticebly unless I am holding the glass close to my face and I have a terrible headache. But, maybe I picked something up at the hospital which is possible. Oh well, I am getting happier by the day when I see the Wii fit scale count my BMI Down !!!!!

    List of October Bansters

Banded 10/28, had my first fill today. It was really creepy to have a huge needle inserted into your tummy and not really feel it. I have lost about 20 pounds plus or minus. I am real happy with the band now that the left chest pain has finally faded.
  7. Hey there, got my first fill today and I am still adjusting to it. I have lost 22 pounds since the start of this. So hopefully it will start progressing a little more now.

  8. Hi, I was just banded 3 days ago and I woke up in the recovery room with this terrible Pain in my left shoulder and heart area. They gave me some pain meds at the hospital and said it was from the gas they use during surgery. It hurts very bad and the only thing that seems to help is when I stand up. The hospital did not send any pain meds home with me, so I have been taking aspirin. I am not hungry and I am bloated something awful. Has anyone else experienced this shoulder pain ?

    5 Days Post-Op!

I was banded 10/28 and when I woke up from surgery I had the worst pain in my left shoulder that at times it would make me cry. I suffered through most of it until yesterday, I finally went and bought the real Gas-x Strips and ate like 4 of them. I had been using the generic pills and they were not working. I also bought some Liquid Tylenol :scared2: which was horrible and to top it all off, some orange flavored chewable vitamins. I took my little cocktail at about 2pm, made it home around 3 pm and laid down to nap. I slept off and on for about 2 hours and then got up to go trick or treating with the kids. By the time I got home I was exhausted and in alot of pain in my shoulder and everything else. I ate another Gas-x strip and then I took some niteqil. It totally knocked me out, I just woke up this morning and there is very little pain. Just hang in there, this is only making us stronger.

    OLIVE GARDEN under $20.00??

I am newly banded and I have not experienced a meal out yet. We live in a small rural community and we have a Golden Corral where the kids love to eat. How do I explain to them that I can not eat anything but soup or maybe later on some veggies ? Has anyone else experienced this ? I am sure that I will experience some weird looks from people, but I am curious as to how to tell them when the time comes.

Terrible Pain in Left Shoulder/Heart Area

Thanks everyone for the advice, I have noticed that today the pain has moved to the side of my neck but it is still in the shoulder area. Also walking around no longer helps. Keep our fingers crossed and hope this goes away soon. Thank you everyone...

After a restless night and sleeping upright most of the night, I am feeling a little better. I plan to go into work later this afternoon to perhaps keep me up and moving about. Its so tempting to just park myself on the couch. I so appreciate everyone's thoughts and prayers, it means a lot to know that there are other people who know what I am going through and that it will soon be over and I get to start my new life.

Terrible Pain in Left Shoulder/Heart Area

Should I take childrens Liquid Tylenol ?
  14. Trust me, the whole pre-op diet is really hard. But today I am 3 days post-op and I am not hungry at all. I have to force myself to now eat (Drink) anything. So keep your head up and know that it is all worth it.

Well I made it and it's the first day post-op. I am very sore and my Left Shoulder is killing me. They told me it was the gas and it would eventually go away. My incisions are pretty small but they are leaking blood quite a bit. The DR's sent home a script for Phenergan and told me to take aspirin for the pain. Just got out of the shower and I fell better, but like I said I can not get over the shoulder hurting. But I know in my heart it is well worth it. Thanks everyone for the support and I will talk to you all soon. Shanon

  18. I am very excited and I am nervous. My tummy has butterfly's!!!!! Thank You !

  19. Hello everyone- I would like to introduce myself, my name is Shanon and I live in southern Indiana. I have 2 wonderful little girls and I am happily married, I own a Sensual Lingerie store here locally and I attend classes at night. After much consideration I chose the Lap-band because I have always been overweight and I also have diabetes. I love to show my miniature horses, and last year I got into driving them. But in some of my show pics I noticed that it looked like this little tiny horse, pulling an elephant and I said enough is enough. I have tried every diet known to man, and the only thing that really ever worked was my divorce :wink2: but then I remarried and the weight came back with a vengence and I gained more that I lost. I am scheduled to be banded on Wednesday the 28th, just 2 more days. :cryin: I am excited and nervous. I did not have any problems with the insurance, once I had my approval I was scheduled ASAP. I have been having a hard time with the pre-op diet but I have followed everything to the letter (Lost 9 pounds this week). I look forward to meeting everyone here and I hope to inspire and be inspired. Thanks Shanon
  20. Congrats on your decision. I am due to be banded on October 28th. I have started my pre-op diet and I have lost about 6 pounds in 4 days. Most of it I am sure has been water, lol. U an excuted and nervous. I have been overweight my entire life and have failed at the many diets that are always being advertised. But now I am hoping that this will finally help me, and I am so glad that I Accidentlly found this website. I look forward to meeting everyone.
