I had my lapband put in in september of 2007 .. It has been a total blessing and i am so glad i made the decision to get it . It deffinately has not been easy by any means  but i couldn't imagine myself without it . I have had lots of gas and pressure cramping problemss but i also tend to forget to not drink when i eat , as well as not chewing my food as well as i should. I was 200 lbs when i got my band which isn't as dramatically overweight as some but my doctor concluded that i wasn't being able to lose the weight due to the high levels of constant stress in my life. But my family had a history of diabetes so i needed to do something and fast ! My band has really helped me learn to eat healthier and smaller portions and enjoy eating healthier... Sometimes though it is hard to deal with all the terrible side affects that it can cause , but i just try to get through each day at a time .
