  1. I am with Tricare Standard and my authorization request was submitted on 12/3 (Monday). I am still pending, Tricare indicated it should be approved on Monday. I am worried I won't be approved because I am 100 lbs overweight without any other problems. I really want to get this surgery done and I don't want to go through the appeal process. I didn't have a sleep study done which I probably should have done. I guess I will know in a few days.
  2. So after the run around I was given by my surgeons office, they finally submitted my authorization request yesterday 12/1 (when I was told it would be submitted last monday 11/22) and they requested urgent. However, Tricare won't approve an urgent request without a surgery date scheduled. So will take 3-5 for authorization to be approved. I should hear back end of the week or early next week. It's about time. I have only been waiting for 1 1/2 months for them to submit the authorization. Note to other tricare patients - you can't use MYTRICARE.COM to view your authorization for lapband as only a partial approval is made pre-surgery and a complete approval is made after the surgery. So the authorization won't show on the website until after the surgery.
  3. Does anyone have a recommendation for a surgeon in the NW Chicago suburbs?
  4. I am so frusterated with my surgeon. I have completed all of the necessary appointments back in mid-october. Here I am nearly two months later and I am still waiting for them to submit the authorization. They told me they submitted last Monday but Tricare has no record. Does anyone know if the authorization shows up on Mytricare.com or do you have to call to determine if you are approved. Thank you
  5. Thanks for the reply. I think you are right that my Dr. confused Tricare with another insurance. I really don't want to wait six months. Thanks again!
  6. Hi, I live in Round Lake (I moved here about 7-8 months ago). I bought a townhouse in the area for your price range. I don't know about houses since I wanted only a townhouse. Our's is about 1800 sq ft, 3 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths. So if you can't find a house, a townhouse might be a good option. There are a lot of kids in our neighborhood. I am seeing Dr. Haggerty in Highland Park. A bit of a drive but it was the closest Dr. that didn't make me go through the seminar and other hoops. There are some Doctor's in Gurnee area as well as McHenry County. The doctor I spoke with in McHenry county also had an office in Vernon Hills but they were very rude to me when it came to insurance. They didn't believe that I didn't need a referral and they wouldn't speak with me until I had one. When I am on a PPO plan how am I going to get a referral. Long story short there are plenty of doctors in the area so you should have no trouble finding a doctor. Hope that helps.
  7. I met with Dr. Haggerty on 10/9 and am currently undergoing all the tests and pre-op appointments such as nutrition, psy, and bloodwork. I was wondering if anyone else has seen Dr. Haggerty in Highland Park? Any if you have any advice on how to make the process go smoother? Thanks
  8. I have Tricare Standard and my Dr. indicated there might be a 6 mth diet waiting period. Has anyone else had to wait six months with Tricare?
