Went to the Dr Office first thing monday morning and he took aout 1cc.. He did not want to take it all out didnt think I needed too.. He also didnt think I did any damage to the band either.. Said I would be a whole lot sicker!! Just wanted to say thanks to guys for helping out!!

Had surgery on 9/4/06 and my last fill was 11/14/06... I'm about 2.5 in a 4cc band.. Self Pay.. My band has always been tight in the morning.. usually Soup for lunch.. then maybe a salad, health choice dinner... etc.. About 3 days ago I started getting acid reflux around lunch time and i have not eating anything.. Drink Water too fast.. ends up coming back up... cant eat anyting mushie, not even anything cold.. has to be hot.. Never had this problem.. getting scared maybe slippage.. Hope you got a picture of what is going on. .I seem to ramble on and on and on.. Thanks for reading and any info would be great.!! Thanks Stephanie

I felt fine afterwards and I dont see why you wouldnt either.. The next day I was a tad bit sore in the port area but nothing even remotely close to after the surgery!! You will do fine!!

Hey Virginia I just had my first fill yesterday.. I was very nervious considering I dont like needles.. My dr had me lay on the table with a pillow in the small of my back to help him find the port easier.. He then gave me a shot to numb the area (only a slight prick), the next shot was the fill which I didnt feel at all... after that I stood in the xray machine a sipped the barium and got to watch the fluid go into the pouch and spurt thru the band into the stomach.. Looked like a smoke cloud.. LOL really neat to watch!! Good Luck!! Stephanie

Banded on 9/4/06 and had my first fill yesterday 10/9/06.. I think he said 2.25 or 2.5cc in my 4cc band.. Not feeling much today but I'm still on liquids for the rest of the day... Guess I'll give it a few days and see what happens.. Stephanie

Hey Veronda!! I too was scared of going to Mexico!!! Before I made my decisoin I did a lot of research on the internet and ended up going to Dr Ortiz in TJ because of experience.. My insurance told me to gain about 50lbs then they "might" cover the surgery.. I'm discusted with myself now!! Why on earth would I want to gain more weight!!! Cost was a little over 9K for the surgery, air, shopping money, food for me (DH came with) As for fills here in Texas.. Look at www.fillusa.com .. Dr Ortiz was one of the co-founders!!! List of centers across the USA who will take Mexico Bands!! I have no regretts for paying myself!! Best of Luck with your decision!!!

I too was banded by Dr. Ortiz im Mexico just a few weeks ago!! He is an excellent Dr.... I do not know of any other areas in Tx for less than 10k.. My total with Air, shopping, shopping, and food for my DH and I was about $9200.00 as for fills and after care.. I will be going to Dr. Carter in Arlington @ USMD off I20... I suposed I should call them even though I am feeling soooo much better now that that cold front finally blew thru!!! Major weather changes always throw my allergies in a loop...

my pcp gave me antibiotics for the infection but I think it might be a really bad allergy attack.. Benadryl seems to be helping a lot... I really dont want to reschedule though.. The plane tickets are non refundable.. LOL

I'm new to this forum and will be getting my band on Sept 4 with Dr Ortiz.. about 2 weeks ago I had a sinus infection and now I have a cold or really really really bad allergy ... Anyways.. Anyone know of having to delay getting the band because of a cold?? Thanks! Stephanie
