  2. My name is Tammy and I live just north of Kansas City MO and I'm looking into the Lap Band Surgery. I was diagnosed about 1 1/2 years ago with Type 2 diabetes and up until now have not had to take medication. I am 5'7" and 271#. I was wondering if someone who has had it could tell me what the recovery time is and what all is involved with the surgery and the names of some surgeons that perform the procedure. Is it less expensive then the actual gastric bypass? Can't wait to hear from someone. Thanks Tammy:help: 271# looking to get to 190#
